EA Playground for Wii, DS
Be a kid again.
Electronic Arts is working on a mini-game compilation for Wii and DS that's being tentatively called EA Playground.
It'll be available this autumn and will seek to recreate the fun kids have in playgrounds, according to game producer Dave McCarthy, who revealed the project to IGN.
A full announcement is expected soon, but EA was unable to say anything about it at the time of writing.
Playground will feature lots different games for virtual youngsters to get stuck into, every one designed to make the best use of each console's strong points.
Wii warblers can expect a hands-on workout in games like Dodge Ball and Tetherball, or can jump behind the wheel in RC Car Racing. Meanwhile DS dabblers will be able to splat bugs in Bug Hunt using the stylus, and make all sorts of funny noises at the microphone in Spit Ball.
Single-player mode will let you horde collectables and unlock further activities, and both versions will support multiplayer to test your skills against your friends.

That'll be bullying, punching, verbal abuse etc then?
"So now kids need playground simulators? They REALLY should just go outside."
Good point.
You wonder if the GPS unit for the PSP might allow some kind of game where you really do have to run around in the real world. That could give Sony a genuine pro-fitness angle, if they went down that path.

Just call it 'MySims - Playground Sports' and they would likely double their sales.

And hopefully the DS version will let you write rude words in the pavement with a bit of chalk.

Image if a child got kidnapped or hit whilst playing that. The daily mail would have a field day with that one.

Doubtful. I think Nintendo are going to keep Mii's for their own software or only allow them in special cases for 3rd party use. Mii's are a selling point so I doubt Nintendo would want that branding tarnished or minimised by appearing in every game.

No, because that would mean exposing them to all kinds of dangers of the outside world like paedophiles, bird flu, skin cancer etc.
Parents feel much safer knowing Uncle EA is taking care of their offspringb safely indoors.

He's got nothing else better to do; making Wii games is quick and easy.

.. the two genres which ea does well.
Dont knock this one quite yet (unless you're a fanboy desperately trying to tell everyone how crap the wii is compared to your console because it doesnt have repetitive fps games with "depth" on it yet).

Ditto to fps games (which consist of one mini game sprawlled out over long periods of time and usually hidden behind a story). Mind you, they normally try to break up the monotomy of the long drawn out mini game by putting you in a vehicle such as a buggy or a mine cart - for a slightly different mini game.
