EA aware of ProStreet PS3 glitches News

PlayStation 3 PC News by Robert Purchese

9 January, 2008

EA is well aware its December Need For Speed ProStreet patch is irreparably corrupting PS3 and PC versions of the game.

This doesn't mean a fix has been found, but the developer is narrowing the problem down and ambitiously predicts it will have something to say about it tomorrow.

"It frustrates us just as much that our great fans aren't able to have an enjoyable experience with ProStreet because of issues such as these," responded an EA moderator on the official forums.

"Hold tight though, as I've already heard some stuff from the team on what the issue(s) (for PS3 at least) might be. Hopefully I'll have something to report by tomorrow morning."

Symptoms of update 1.1's problems include game freezing and crashing when tuning cars or saving games, causing many disgruntled fans to unplug until a solution is found.

"I have been playing videogames since I was a kid, 20+ years," said one forum member probably faking their age. "And this is by far the glitchiest and buggy game I have ever played!"

"I can't believe this game even made it to retail! Aside from the freezing, the frame-rate drops off at certain points, and there are even pop-ups!"

If 1.1 Patch fucked it up cant then just release a 1.0 patch and put it back the way it was till they fix 1.1

There's really no excuse for releasing broken patches.

Are they in charge of PC patches too?

Certification isn't what it used to be. A lot of the new gen console games have been glitchy and buggy to almost PC-style degrees. Buggy patches was only the next step.

Having played and hated the Wii version I can't imagine PS3 owners are going to be much happier when the game is bug free, it'll still be pants....

@cuke: i disagree, i have enjoyed nfs since the (very old) 3do version and this is definately one of the better games in the series. sure, it has its niggles, but it is an entertaining game nontheless.

Ever since these current gen consoles were announced I feared we'd be going down the PC route of getting games released then having to patch them later as "glictches and bugs" were found.

We never seemed to have this problem with high profile titles on the PS2 nor the first Xbox,

Umm ... people bought this game?

EDIT - I suppose 74 is a solid Metacritic rating, I just haven't met anyone who likes it and I work in a fairly large QA office.

lol patches that make things worse for the win!

Maybe they are in cahoots with the McDonalds guy, trying to get people out and weened off games lol. They just need to make them as bad to play as possible, which they have lots of practice at ;)

@Bertie "Are you having problems, Eurogamer reader?"

We don't generally buy EITHER Need For Speed games OR PS3s (for another 18 months to 2 years or so...unitl it's finished and the bugs and incomplete functions are sorted).
