E3: New Piñata game revealed News

Xbox 360 PC News by Robert Purchese

11 July, 2007

This morning Microsoft revealed a new Viva Piņata game at it's E3 conference.

However, it won't be a sequel built by original developer Rare. Instead Krome Studios will be making a party game made-up of over 40 mini-games inspired by the paper creatures from the animated television series. That's Hudson Horstachio, Paulie Preztail, Franklin Fizzlybear and Fergy Fudgehog to name a few.

Dubbed Party Animals, it will let you play with up-to four friends in your living room or over Live, enjoying activities like racing around towns, belching boats down streams and smashing stuff in gardens. It's due out this Christmas.

Microsoft also announced it would be bringing the original Viva Piņata to PC. It will feature Windows Live support, although we're not sure what form this will take, and other specific details like a date were also not mentioned.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next few days for any screenshots or movies.

I've a horrible feeling this new Viva Pinata game will be a whole load of cack. Aren't Krome Studios the ones resposible for that bland platformer with the kangeroo which I've already forgotten the name of? It really doesn't fill me with confidence and games that revolve solely around mini-games tend to be fun... for about an hour or two at most before the lack of depth and repetition become obvious. I may be completely wrong but I doubt this is the kind of game that will sell well on the 360...

They need to make a Pinata kartracer. With Rares pedigree it could be the smash hit the family crowd wants.

Wait, this isn't being made by Rare?

Meh!

Definetly agree on the Kart Racer idea though, doesn't even have to be based around the Pinata franchise. I've been waiting for a decent online Kart racing game for like.....a long time

Fusion Frenzy was crap, so hopefully this becomes a great multiplayer and party game!
