E3: Modern Warfare 2 DLC 360 exclusive

First two map packs. For a while, at least.

Microsoft announced during its E3 conference that the first two map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be timed exclusives on Xbox 360.

Xbox bigwig John Schappert let fly the news after a gameplay demonstration of Modern Warfare 2, which saw the player traverse an icy cliff, stalk up to a building, strangle people and then runaway from a building amidst gunfire. It was tense and very impressive.

Epic big-shot Mark Rein, who was sat next to Ellie during the conference, whispered to her that the trailer was "insanely good".

Modern Warfare 2 is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 10th November.

Some PS3 owners being very sore about this, timed exclusivity mean it will expire and eventually appears on PS3 format, and hey Ghostbusters in Europe being PS3 exclusive is another point!

Each platform holder will try to seek any advantages, and that wont changes, the more MS 'snatches' exclusives the same Sony will eventually tries to do and so on!

DLC and timed exclusives is in a way better than outright exclusive, as a X360 owner had said he loved MSG and want dying to see the fourth iteration on X360... wont happen!

Multi-platform IS the way to go if you wanna call yourself a serious gamer who craves games and farts in the direction of loyalty to the platform!

GamesConnoisseur, i'm wholly against exclusive dlc, timed or otherwise. why should existing users suffer because these big conglomerates fight it out for sales. i'm against exclusives as it is but this limiting the content of users because of their preference in gaming device is a dubious business as far as i'm concerned.

So as usual M$ have sod all in new IP's and continue to buy off companies. Come on M$ bring me something new. I don't care about map packs.

Microsoft can suck up my huge fucking balls!!! What a disgrace!! Doing what they always do, saving their little pony asses by bribing their way out of everything instead of spending the money in making a new IP for their Xbox or improving the reliability and functionality of all their products!!

That is the same lame business plan that led the likes of GM, Chrysler to where they currently find themselves!! At the bottom and bankrupted!!!

I will have my champagne ready for when the same happens to Microsoft!

    I cheers to that!!

In addition, Activision, JUST WOW!! What a pity... do they really need to do this???
  • collateral89 #13 3 years ago

now wats the fucking point in that if ps3 r going to get them 2 y not at the same time. and in a week they wil probably announce that they will get it at the same time. FUCK

    Disappointing.

Is there anything Microsoft won't throw loads of cash at just to piss off the customers of their competition? The sooner they realise that this sort of practice just gives them a bad name with gamers of any console preference (fanboys who revel in this kind of stuff aside), the better.

Oh leave him be! Don't you know he is insane? :?)

On second thought, screw that! Go for the jugular :)
farty is the single most deluded 360 fanboy I've seen across the entire Net. He thinks MS are his parents and have his well-being at heart.

    @EVERYBODY

farty says "I'm not an MS fanboy"

There! See! He is just a poor unbiased completely neutral soul who just states the facts as he sees them!

Go easy on him from now on :)

It's a shame for the PS3 guys... but to be fair, xbox users pay for subscription to xbox live, to play online... and thats how microsoft can pay big money for exclusives and dlc sooner. You sony guys don't... so you're getting what you paid for... *cough*nothing*cough*

MW3, like its predecessors, is a first-person shooter. To give it a competitive edge over other games, Modern Warfare 3 runs at 60FPS! A new Special Ops mode includes one and two player cooperative play with a survival mode and new weapons and perks, so with this Modern Warfare 3 is 100x better than this game.
