E3: Lost Planet 2 confirmed for PS3 News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

3 June, 2009

Sony confirmed during its E3 press conference that Lost Planet 2 will be released on PS3 in "early 2010".

Capcom had previously unveiled the sequel only for Xbox 360, which we heard will be out during the winter early next year. It's not clear whether Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will launch side by side, though.

Lost Planet 2 has more of the same third-person shooting, mech and grappling action as before - only this time there's four-player co-op and more colourful environments such as lush jungles to explore.

We had been promised a demo to coincide with E3 event, but we've seen no evidence of it yet. Look sharp.

Is it coming out for the PC though, that's what I want to know. The PC version of the original was great, especially as it only cost me £5 on Steam. At that price the flaws such as repetitive gameplay and the truly lousy storyline and dialogue were pretty much forgiveable as it was an otherwise addictive little third-person shooter with pretty visuals for the time I spent with it. Got to Mission 10 if I remember but just cannot beat the boss on that level. :)

Let's hope the PS3 version is not as crippled as the the first one was.

Lost Planet was an amazing game. The singleplayer was ok, but it was the multiplayer that made the game so great. 4 player coop and more variety in the areas is just what the campaign needs. The multiplayer will probably be even better than in the first one.
A GOTY 2009 candidate for me.

@muscleblade - Evidently I'm not very good at games nor have I ever boasted I was. I'm played Lost Planet on Easy too and stuck at the "lava" boss with the two big tentacle things on Mission 10. I'm only stuck because I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do to actually kill it. I can't even get rid of it with a trainer (a hack that gives me infinite ammo, health, etc.)!!! LOL

@Darren In all fairness, there's a total lack of direction in Lost Planet. The bosses can get really bloody annoying, I'm looking at you giant worm bastard

I'm not too good at games either :) - for instance, I really suck at online multi-player and usually get massacred, although I believe I'm getting better now.

As far as the single player is concerned, I've got one thing going for me. I'm really persistent, and have a very hard time quitting anything once I've forced myself to get started. It was persistence which helped me finish Killzone 2 on the Elite difficulty.

Its probably more obvious than you think. I cant remember being stuck on any of the bosses so it shouldnt be too hard.
