E3: Kojima to be hands-off for MGS Rising News

PSP PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Oli Welsh

4 June, 2009

Hideo Kojima is letting "young bloods" at his Kojima Productions studio take charge of new multiformat title Metal Gear Solid: Rising while he concentrates on making Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP, which he considers the next "true" Metal Gear Solid game.

"We're creating Rising with Kojima Productions' up-and-coming young bloods, because the game is for the young bloods as well, a new experience." Not completely new, however - Kojima promised that Rising would be "a stealth espionage action game, of course".

He said he would be also be experimenting with Western development methods on Rising. "I made a keynote speech at GDC and I explained the difference about how studios in the West work, by first creating technology... That's one experiment that we're doing."

For Kojima, however, the real sequel to the Metal Gear Solid series is the PSP's Peace Walker - so much so that he's personally directing the game.

"This is what I mean by a true sequel - it means that I'm writing the script, I'm doing the game direction, I'm working on the title full-time and the main team of Metal Gear Solid 4 is working on this title," the creator said at Konami's E3 press conference.

MGS: Peace Walker, revealed at yesterday's Sony conference, is a 1970s-set sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 starring Naked Snake, otherwise known as Big Boss. It will be released next year. Little is known about Rising other than that it will star Raiden in his cybernetic ninja suit and, is in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

In other words, MS is sorta paying and manning the team for MGS: Rising? But still couldn't get exclusivity? Interesting.

That actually means MGS: Rising may be not boring like MGS 3 & 4 though my expectations for the story are not very high, it's MGS after all.

Get ready for a generic DMC / Dirge of Cerberus clone.

Atleast 360 owners will know what its like to stare at the back of Raiden for hours realising he really does have a feminine ass.

Exactly what I though :D Though I'm sure he'll still have something to do with the story/cut scenes.

Didn't Kojima like erm ... quit directing MGS?

IMO MGS 3 was ace, 4 not so much.

mgs rising is a good pay cheque, 360 and ps3 = loadsa money for konami. Down side not really a 'kojima' game and ultimatly may be alot more shallow with the 'western' direction....

For starters when he says a true MGS game cant be a generic DMC ttile of any short.. I mean you cant be incapable to realise the most obvious of the interview/article. If so why did you read it? Or you just jumped in here to make this comment cause you are bitchy for the fact you got no exclusives left? Go play GT and Uncharted to feel better about yourself maybe? ffs.. and then again my second comment on you is that for some reason you are the only one aware of Raiden's femine ass for some "funny" reason, dont you think? lol.. sad kids i tell ya.

SO nothing interesting as news about this game? Ill consider it another MGS which dont interest me since MGS2.. Ever since a MGS is nothing that interesting to me unfortunately.. Lots of great games to be waiting when MGS will be great again for no reason. When it is great it will be heard.Hope this is though.
