Love Jak & Daxter. Was even better than R&C. Though it probably would be even better if ND made a cartoony PS3 platformer based on a new IP.

I very much preferred Jak and Daxter before they added the weapons. Eco upgrades were enough for the original and I was very disapponted with the "Grand Theft Daxter" second game. Then the third game... sigh.

Why they felt it necessary to rob so blatantly from other IPs is beyond me. If I want cartoon gunplay I'll play Ratchet and Clank thanks.

@ Les and FladgeMangle I agree, enjoyed Jak & Daxter far more than R&C which is why I was horrified when Naughty Dog played down the platforming elements of J&D and went all open world run and gun as well. Seemed pointless making it more like a game you already have another studio working on and as a result watering down for me the things that made the original such a polished platformer.

Problem is as with Warrior's Within gothic look, while it may annoy some how franchises are altered, this stuff works for more people and it sells better. An example of this would be a comment under the Gamespot hands on article in which it was suggested it may be closer to the first J&D than the sequels:

"I hope there isn't too much of an emphasis on collecting objectives like Daxter. The fact that they announce it as a pure platformer rather than an open ended action adventurelike Jak 3 doesn't bode too well."

Tough job for High Impact Games, next to impossible to reconcile these views so we'll probably end up with something that is half and half, out of a mixture of creative choice, commercial pressures and hardware limitations, flying, shooting and other distractions alongside the platforming.

Seems to be a theme here but, like all of you I was totally disappointed in J & D 2 and 3. The precursor stuff in 1 was great. The ending left room for a great sequel (if you collected all the eggs) and then we got crud on a stick instead!

They need to do a highlander on this baby and make a PS3 J & D but, say at the beginning that the events of 2 and 3 took place in an alternate universe and they are really sorry!

I don't know what this is in these screenshots, mind. This isn't Jak.
