Gotta say, I'm not real excited... the first couple of games were way over-hyped.

GoW1 was one of the top highlights of the last generation for me, and it had a lot of competition. It's the only game I've ever played end-to-end three times in a row before finally moving on to something else (and I've gone back again since). Partly it's the excellent storyline in the game, a real tale of trouble and revenge that turns into redemption. Revenge really is the most boring theme in computer game stories, and GoW did a brilliant twist on that.

However, GoW2 just didn't seem to have that same magic. The plot got a bit lost (he's doing what, why?), and the battles seemed to range without enough focus. I never thought I'd say it, but I'd prefer a tighter and shorter game than one that is long but lacking in direction. It was still good, but nowhere near the quality of GoW1.

I have very high hopes for GoW3. I just hope that they can get the story back on track.

What I want to know is, when are we going to see Kratos' vengeful brother as the antagonist?

Good article. It conveys the same passion I saw in reviews of the first game, which can only be a good thing.

I'm don't quite agree with your opinion of GoW2, though, Doctor_What. The story wasn't quite as fresh, I know, but it delivered more of what made the first game incredible - impeccable action. And as far as I'm concerned, that's all that matters.

It's great to know an effort has been made to break players away from the Blades of Athena, but, to be honest, I'd be perfectly happy if it was just more of the same with better graphics.

Does that make me shallow?!

My only complaint about the second game is they still didn't fix the evading, funnily enough the psp version did fix it.

The gameplay footage for this is astounding. It just looks like mindless violence - I love it...!

It took me a while to warm up to GoW1, but once I did I had a tremendous amount of fun. GoW2 surely wasn't as memorable, but it was the single most satisfying example of "more of the same"/"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" that I can remember. "Chains of Olympus" was an immensely impressive PSP title and satisfied my Kratos cravings for a while, but now I can't wait for GoW3. I bought my PS3 earlier this year because of the upcoming God of War and Sega's critically acclaimed Valkyria Chronicles and not much else, really...

Hopefully the rumours of GoW 1+2 being bundled along with this are true...

Dragul: Lots of love here for CoO. Introduced me to GOW on PS2 and loved every second of it. It also confirmed to me that Kratos is the angriest character ever to grace a video game.

@ Dragul

Loving Chains...rinsed it on my PSP, just on the final boss on expert - simple, exciting and there is a strategy to each set piece which does add another dimension to the usual brawler. Sounds good, waiting patiently..
