The multiplayer beta test for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be exclusive to Xbox 360.
Bigwigs at developer Infinity Ward - Grant Collier and Jason West - announced the news earlier this morning, after giving an in-depth demonstration of the game at Microsoft's E3 conference.
And what a demonstration it was; using a limited palette and liquid animation to produce a coherent effect that looked "properly amazing", according to our man on the ground, Tom Bramwell.
"We're making a more sophisticated, deeper Call of Duty experience," Infinity promised on stage, and the evidence was certainly compelling.
There's no word on when exactly this beta test will be taking place, but we expect more information and media to spring out of E3 later this week.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is due for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year - coinciding with Peter Moore's promise at the conference that all games shown will be out before the end of 2007. Only Resident Evil 5 broke that exception.

Oh joy another PC game that leads on the 360. This had better not be as disappointing as the PC release of COD2.
Still this game along with HL2 EP2 are the only PC games I am actually looking forward this year (for me its a been pretty bleak year for PC gaming in terms of FPS games) so it had better be good. |

I hope what i said was eloquent enough for people who play nintendo's fine consoles. The wii truly is the next generation in terms of graphics and gameplay

Microsoft announced during its E3 conference that the first two map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be timed exclusives on Xbox 360. Xbox bigwig John Schappert let fly the news after a gameplay demonstration of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which saw the player traverse an icy cliff, stalk up to a building, strangle people and then runaway from a building amidst gunfire. It was tense and very impressive.
