Dynasty Warriors Gundam sequel in 2009 News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

3 September, 2008

KOEI has decided to bring Xbox 360 and PS3 sequel Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 to Europe in 2009, although few will probably bat an eyelid.

Those that do will relish the introduction of online battles and plenty more story campaigns for the big-robot-suit-pilots from big-robot-suit anime.

Bosses will also be "ridiculously huge", according to a spokesperson for the publisher, and about as different as the Empire State Building is to regular buildings. Not our words.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is the marriage of one enormously popular videogame series with an enormously popular anime. The result flourished in Japan, but struggled to find a similar hold on the Xbox 360 and PS3 market here last November.

We rather liked the game, though, as our Dynasty Warriors: Gundam review will point out.

Pop over to our Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 gallery for the very first screenshots.

It's got the Strike Freedom in it. That alone would make me get it :) I wish they would actually allow the story of Gundam to make much sense. I've never seen the original series (Seed fan here) but the first Gundam warriors for a nice introduction to it, it would be nice if they had a more indepth story driven story mode. They manage it time and again with the ROTK story, why should the Gundam one be any harder?

I have no idea what the heck the story is in Gundam, all I know is I'm a massive DW fan, and liked DW: Gundam (more so than DW6 which even to me is getting a bit old). Big robots are awesome, bigger boss robots are better :)

The Warriors franchise is getting on a bit, Koei have milked its teats so much I'm surprised the cow hasn't kicked them in the groin by now. But it's an arguable thing. The only two sides are "If it ain't broke" and "Familiarity does breed contempt".

I like the series, and DW: Gundam is a bit of fun. But I do think the series needs a real kick up the backside somehow. There are lots of great games out there, and evventally it will take more than "more of the same" to shift copies... those teats won't stay fresh and healthy forever, after all...

Great. As a Gundam fan I really enjoyed the game, though it's pretty stupid and fairly mindless. I was assuming that the sequel wouldn't get a PAL release since I didn't think the first one did that well.

Koei always do PAL releases nowadays...which is nice :)
DW6 sucked - and not because it was more of the same. The amount of clone characters and dodgy story lines really did make it vastly inferior to DW5 or Warriors Orochi.

Hope it evolves the gameplay somewhat, maybe even evolving the Dynasty Warriors mechanics themselves. Enjoyed the first DW Gundam a lot but more of the same with new suits and maps doesn't cut it in my opinion.

Definitely getting this, not really a DW fan but love Gundam (Especailly Wing), as long as Wing Zero and Epyon return, i'll get it.

Please add more Gundam Wing Gundams, Wing Gundam 01, Death Sythe, Heavy Arms, Sandrock, Nataku/Shenlong/Wufie's final Gundam and Tallgeese 1, 2 or especially 3.

Strike Freedom's pretty awsome too.
