Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 for March News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

14 January, 2009

KOEI's Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is coming to Europe on 27th March, it's been announced.

This PS3 and 360 sequel once again squeezes heroes into enormous robot suits that resemble Transformers and smash the nuts and bolts out of each other. These are based on the Japanese Gundam anime, which explains half of the title.

That leaves the the tactical action style of Dynasty Warriors to talk about. As you may know, this revolves around wading through hordes of cannon-fodder enemies before tackling oversized bosses.

There's skills, abilities and mecha parts to collect and customise robots with along the way, as well as stories nicked from the latest Gundam cartoons to unravel. And they are cartoons.

The formula worked well back at the end of 2007, and with loads more playable robot suits, mission modes and a better online versus system, the package looks promising.

The only thing stopping me from getting part 1 was lack of trophy patch.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you only play a game for Trophies, don't bother. Your money is better spent on a game you'll enjoy because it's a game you really like. Assuming your Games Collection is accurate, may I recommednt the excellent Knight of the Old Republic :)

I'll have this, I like Gundam 1 more than DW6. Even as a huge fan of the series, 6 was too samey, but Gundam realy brought some new stuff to the table.

I want this.

Also : KOEI , HOW HARD IS TO IMPLEMENT ONLINE CO-OP ?

These games (dynasty series) were so much better when you were hack 'n' slashing alongside a buddy...

Indeed. My DW playing friend always gets them on release, I usually get them a bit later, but can we play from our own house? Nope, it's same room or nothing. In co-op, it's not even like you'd have to figure out how players hit each other, just use the Crackdown method of syncing the map.

I think I finally reached burn-out with the DW/SW games. Not that I've totally sworn off them for the rest of my life, just that they need to do something really quite interesting for me to get back into them.
And the first DW gundam game never really clicked with me anyway - I think its because most of the mech's looked either too similar or too uninteresting when compared to the flamboyant ladies and bierded blokes of ancient Japan and China.

If DW Strikeforce is decent as a singleplayer game I'll dive back in, but DW6 was a miss-step (IMO) and Warriors Orochi 2 too minor an upgrade to warrant a purchase, so that sapped my tollerance a lot.
