DS scarer Dementium here in April News

DS News by Robert Purchese

27 March, 2009

SouthPeak has announced that creepy DS game Dementium: The Ward will be out on 17th April.

Exciting. Well, not really. Dementium has been available in America since October 2007, and in Japan since last summer.

Fortunately, reviews from those reaches suggest Dementium: The Ward is worthwhile: Metacritic averages opinion at 73 per cent.

Dementium: The Ward is a survival-horror set in a spooky hospital full of violent monstrosities. Our story begins when players wake within the hospital with no recollection of how they got there, and soon set about uncovering the not-so-simple truth.

Creep over to our Dementium: The Ward gamepage to find out more.

Which particular aspects of it are shit? I was interested in this when it first came out and then completely forgot about it.

Obviously the graphics and sound are shit - it's a DS. But ignoring that, is the game itself bad?

If the save system is the improvement then it might be worth a look.

Really cool game, kind of like Doom 3, but set in a hospital, but yeah, the save system was a little unforgiving.
It definitely deserves some attention, it's not the greatest game, but it is a very impressive and solid one

With the graphics and sound being shit, how is it supposed to create an atmosphere to actually make me scared?

Yeah, it's not like old games were ever scary. Scares are obviously a direct consequence of realism.

OK guys I have this game. Quick review:

Graphics = Brilliant, very smooth.
Sound = I think it suits the atmosphere of the game. Its as creepy as you can get on a handheld.
Gameplay = Its good. Not brilliant but good. Some of the areas seem very repetitive. You will be forced to be stingy with your ammo because there are plenty of zombies. However, what killed it for me is the save system. Dying and having to start ALL OVER again is a real bummer.

I would give it 7/10.

im hearing the save system is indeed being changed for the euro release. so let's hope thats true. that they didnt mention it in the press release doesnt exactly fill me with hope though.
