Houser confident it'll fit in nicely.

Rockstar will be including a drug-dealing mini-game in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on DS.

This will let players shift cocaine, heroin, weed, acid and downers in different areas to turn a profit, according to Edge magazine.

"We wanted to have a drug-dealing mini-game in lots of the GTA games," said Dan Houser, big boss of Rockstar. "It works well with what GTA is, with driving around the map, and it gives you another thing to think about - another layer or piece of the puzzle to keep you motivated."

Houser said the drugs will "intersect" and "work with" the main story, although will be largely included as a way to make heaps of money. Just like in real-life.

Sounds rather a lot like that fiendishly compelling PC freeware game Dope Wars to us.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is due out on DS this winter.

I like economic mini-games within games. I can see me doing trading runs around the city for a bit extra cash. Maybe in-game too.

Scarface had drug dealing minigames too...on the Wii also. Wasn't a problem there so why should it be a problem now?
And yes lavalant, Conker did a lot of drugs...and whores

now i'll have to find someone with a DS, convince them to try the game, hype it up 'til they think they like it and then offer to trade them some weed for it, so they can use their new-found knowledge in real life and make some real money.

then i'll be able to play rhythm tengoku gold on my new DS.

lol good old Rockstar, they know how to make all the stuck up papers give them the best publicity they could ever ask for.

As for the game I'm sure it'll be fun, like any GTA game.

Yawn... perhaps if you get caught you can get life in prison or the chair with no save game... now that would make it interesting. I can put up with gang violence but this "00's generation of TV and games" glorification of drugs does my head in. I agree with the sentiment that its probably been done for effect, maximum news/pr.

Oh my God! This is a total madness. How could these people do that? This game, where players can deal drugs, should be banned because it is an insult to the moral rules of society. They aren't allowed to take advantage of the weaknesses of people, they should encourage addicted persons to go to Drug Treatment Centers to recover, instead of playing this game. Something should be done about this game.
