Been playing it for about a week, although it has it's shortcomings, it really is a good game. Agree on the targeting problems, but most of the time the autoselecting works, so it's acceptable. 7/10 would be more accurate.

If I want a 70s-themed game I'll get the Warriors. If I want a GTA sim I'll get, er, GTA.

Doesn't look too bad though. One for rentals, methinks.

I rented this out.

Again, not a bad game, judging it purely on it's credentials as a GAME i'd give it 7/10 too. BUT it's not suited to the platform it's on, and for that reason i give it 5/10

cars that sometimes sink into the ground

Must give this a rental. The sinking cars brings back so many memories of the bugs in Driver 2.

I've been playing it for a week and it's a good blast, but the review is spot on when it says it's soulless. I just cant give a shit about anything I'm being tasked with, story wise. They're also about as contrived as they come - I've kind of given up on it at a mission where I have to win a motorbike race to win a car to win the approval of a triad boss to win the affection of his daughter. W. T. F?

Switching to the side missions I've found these are good fun, but then they show up some stupid game design decisions - like the fact you cant use one of your own cars in the missions where you're the getaway driver for bank robbers. Kind of takes the point out of souping up your own car when you're given a random banger a lot of the time.

6/10 seems about spot on - there's nothing *that* wrong with it, but then there's nothing *that* right about it, either.

"It's just that it hasn't really addressed the chief failing of Parallel Lines, which is that, as polished, and competent as it is, it still feels a bit like a soulless GTA clone."

Good line, I played Parallel Lines as long I was in the 1970s after that I just didn't like cars/music/hairstyle/jokes that much...

Bought the game, liked it but found it indeed to be soulless, mind you all i have no love towards GTA or GOF but still Driver'76 i liked but i dunno, i think Driver 1 is still too close to my heart and therefor biased.
