What a strange game this seems.

Did Mythos never make it? Did it die at the same time as Hellgate London (almost died)?

Mythos is being reborn as something else by the company that bought over the studio..

Dragonica is an awesome game, i've been having loads of fun with this the last couple of days. My best is 120 hit combo, and when I last checked I had egpid in the top 10 of the south windia plain Big Bad Wolf quest.. Bet it isn't there long tho heh :(

how come when i go to the dragonica website the download is not available?

because closed beta hasn't started yet? Any news on when it will go live EG? Both the beta and the download?

I was going to sign up for the beta, but gPotato's account registration system is painfully bad; it wouldn't permit me to use an email alias with + in (as gmail allows), saying that it was invalid. I then typoed on correcting it, and now my preferred screen name and account name are both taken, with no way of correcting the mistake apart from waiting 14 days for the account to be deleted.

Tip to people making MMOs: the user experience of your game is not the only part of making your game successful. If your account management system is web-based, and using it is about as fun as poking needles in your eyes, people won't use it.

How big's the client?

It’s weird PiD. Use the link on the "Dragonica Key give-away" thread and it links to a section saying the client download is "Coming Soon".

It sounds strangely compelling. I do love my 2D side-scrolling games. Probably the only MMO I've found myself wanting to play beyond LOTRO. And I liked LOTRO merely because it's Middle-Earth.

Yup, no joypad option so far it seems, which is a shame, as this seems made for it really. It's quite fun tho, in a old school Final Fight kinda way!

i think it'll have joypad support for the open beta. i've gotten both working, download joytokey for any usb pads, and xpadder for the xbox 360 controller. got it working on my snes pad and a usb convertor i got to use with snes9x and it's sweet.

Yeah i used xpadder.. its alot better when playing on a pad. Probably took me about 20 mins to set everything up.

I love this game! Played it for ages yesterday and still want to keep playing, which is good.

I just wish my soul enchantments would stop blowing up! lol

Just been playing this with the Dual Shock 3 after finding it a nightmare on the keyboard. Fun so far, at least compared to other MMO's I've tried

Dragonica is in Open Beta right now which means anyone who found this article interesting can play the game. Just pop over to http://dragonica.gpotato.eu , register (your website usernames are your logins for Dragonica and Allods Online and any future games we release) and download the game client. It's 950MB and if you find the mirrors slow you can download the game on bittorrent by searching for "Dragonica EU English".

The game will have controller support at some point, but in the meantime we are suggesting that you use Joy2Key for pads without analogue sticks (USB pads, SNES pads with a USB adapter (available on ebay for a tenner), or there are multi-tap style devices with a USB at one end, and a box with sockets for a couple of different types of old-school game pads, so go up to your attic and dust off your favourite pad of your youth.

If you want to use a modern pad with a USB cable (ie PS3/Xbox 360 wired), we suggest you download Xpadder to play.

Pop into the Dragonica forums and there are lots of walkthroughs.

You can play Dragonica playing on your couch, so if you're fed up with sitting hunched over a keyboard, this is the MMO for you. Also, we've seen this running (low graphics mind you) on computers up to seven years old, and netbooks too.

We've had a really good community growing in the game, and we'd like to see a few Eurogamer guilds set up in-game.

this is such an awesome game. IS there a new one coming out in the near future.
