So who of the four dudes above gets to pick a bride, the girl, Super Mario, the creep, or the birdman? I feel sorry for the wife.

Is it really easy?
Both DQ IV remake, DQ VI fan translation and DQ VII back on psone were spectacularly punishing if you didn't take some time grinding for levels. Fifth installment must be a bit off from the series canon then.

Very good. That said, I still haven't gotten around to playing DQIV...or Star Ocean: First Departure...

I should really play games if I'm going to buy them! :3

Got the game this morning. Just as great as IV.

That schoolgirl shaking her booty to the right is really off putting.

I liked Dragon Ball but nowadays I hate Akira Toriyamas designs. I just can't look at it for longer than a few seconds.

Never really got on with dragon quest games, though I know many who love them.

Better than IV, most would probably agree about. Had a great time playing this.
If you are new to DQ, and think about picking it up, just a word of advice; Try to have an open heart, or you might be put of by everything that makes DQ just DQ (but at the same time makes it look and act bit like a dinosaur).

Is this really an easy game? I've got the DS remake of DQIV and it's rock-solid after the first few chapters. Stuck on a particularly annoying boss which is waiting for a train journey to be defeated on.

I thought the DQ series was considered pretty tough (not surprising given how ridiculously antiquated most of the game's mechanics/UI are), and I found the PS2 game (VIII?) pretty difficult too - enough so that I eventually gave up which is something I very very rarely do with games.

DQ4 is not what I would call "hard" or "challenging", but you do have to put some time into grinding now and then. Especially before that boss you speak of.

The difficulty curve in this is just about perfect, for the first few hours at least--challenging but not frustrating, with a good sense of progression. Later it depends on your play style.

"one whose impact lies in the telling more than in the tale"

Like all games then.

This is out tomorrow in europe/UK and next to Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPG's I ever played.
Playing this I suddenly realised where Zelda on SNES got all it's great ideas from.
And yes I remember those Super Play articles too, glad someone else does!
