Dragon Age's Return to Ostagar returns!

DLC finally released on PC and Xbox 360.

BioWare has finally released the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the Return to Ostagar downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins.

The PC version is available from the developer's website for 400 BioWare Points (around $5), while the Xbox 360 release is 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40 / €4.80). The PS3 version is still "pending".

Return to Ostagar was originally due out at the start of January, and returns players to the scene of King Cailin's dramatic downfall in search of closure (and loot).

Unfortunately though it was delayed following the release of a troubled patch for the Xbox 360 version, which introduced some bugs and encouraged BioWare to update its test procedures to try and avoid a repeat.

According to a post on the official forum by the developers, a new patch to coincide with the return of the Return DLC will also solve problems surrounding achievement unlocks, among other things.

All of which leaves the way happily open (probably) for the release of Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening in the middle of March.

Haven't grabbed Dragon Age yet as there's been loads of other games getting in the way. I've decided that my new plan is buy Dragon Age, Awakening and all the DLC in one go once Awakening is released, at which point my social life (such as it is) will cease to exist.

5 bucks for an hour of play and some virtual items? It looks like EA is learning something from F2P MMOs in Korea to me

When will it go away again?

Weird, I liked DA, but now that mass effect 2 is out, it's a completely different story... ME2 looks and plays so much better than DA, I really don't see myself returning to Ostagar any time soon.

The end boss fight in DA is complete arse.

@ tellboy007: just had my first attempt at it last night so I know what you mean.
Nothing wrong with having difficult boss fights of course, just that in the case of DA:o it jars a bit with the relative ease of the rest fo the game (at least in my playthrough).

Can this be the last mention of it, please? There must be more compelling news than the ongoing delay to a silly DLC that lasts an hour.

the return of the return to ostagar returns: this time it's personal
  • kingmong #12 2 years ago

let me be the second person in this thread to say that ME2 rules

Oh man, I just got totally addicted to ME2, and now I've gotta find some time for this? Bioware, take a lunch break or something! ;)

Re: the difficulty of the final DA fight. I found it was completely impossible without Morrigan in my party, pretty manageable if she came along. (I'd already ticked off my goodie two-shoes healer and she split, but I'm guessing any high-level mage with party heal would do.) Recommendation: split up your party two by two so you can man two turrets at once, then regroup once the turrets start failing.

"ME2 looks and plays so much better than DA"

    And so much better ME1!

(My only complaint is all the prompts in tiny text that fade after about 20ms. I'm playing on a 56" screen and squinting! What were they thinking??)

Downloaded the latest 360 update for this now, glad to see everything is back in order with regards to specialisations no longer being locked! Gonna have to complete this after Mass Effect 2 now though, it's like Bioware heaven at the moment!
