From what I hear in this case I think the PS3 version would get the same score or slightly better.

According the gamespot the ps3 version is better than the 360 version, so perhaps a 7? Or maybe just still a 6. A grand shame though. I was really, really looking forward to this game and while I always knew it would be better on the pc I wasn't expecting such a dramatic difference.

In seriousness it's gutting. I wanted the consoles versions to be worthy. I cba playing a single player rpg on the pc when I could just as well be playing WoW.

Roll on Mass Effect 2 then I guess.

I still find it incredibly difficult to see how the reviewer, "found a studious, staid and worthy epic." But was also ,"alienated and a trifle bored by its dry setting, rote side-quests, lifeless and bloated dialogue and clumsy attempts at edginess, like a college professor trying to act cool."

I appreciate he said how he was drawn in none the less and this was to the game's credit, but to me that just seems contradictory.

As such, I wouldn't leave the console alternative out of the running just yet. Just read a better review.

Would have been much better to have someone else review the console versions. A perspective comparison is nice but having someone who has presumably ploughed 70 hours into a particular interface and become comfortable with it to then judge a different one is foolish. It would also have been a good idea to get a second opinion on the game itself. Missed opportunity.

What was the reason given for the lack of the zoomed out view on the consoles incidentally? It's just a perspective change after all that could have been implemented by having the right analogue click act as a toggle between it and the standard viewpoint. The consoles are more than capable of displaying this viewpoint as Sacred 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and it sequel have proven.

I'd like to see all reviews have a paragraph or box-out with another reviewer's opinion. Would be a useful counter-point.

One thing worth mentioning is that the same reviewer has played the PC and console version so going from one to the other is obviously going to highlight the flaws far more that it would for the average gamer who is playing the game only on a 360 or PS3. That doesn't mean the issues don't exist, just that they're less likely to be a hindrance to the game experience if they haven't seen or played the superior version.

So, uh, not as good as Sacred 2 then? I really enjoyed Sacred 2, but I expected Bioware to wip up something better than a 6/10 game on the consoles.

As with ME i think more 'love' went into the pc version mainly because thats why Bioware know their stuff. ME's 'reboot' with the menu system on the pc felt far better then it's 360 counterpart, so by reading the review I can tell compearing console to pc from a Bioware standpoint - pc would be better.

if you don't compear I think it would have got a better score, either way this review states 'get the pc version' however if many skipped reading the pc review and just saw the score on the 360 they would dismiss the game which is a shame has like I said it's really just a techical booboo not the game that the score is based on

The 360 version of Dragon Age is averaging nearly 90% on games rankings - everyone apart from EG seems to be loving it. Which makes me think that perhaps EG have lost the plot here?

So the Xbox review both comes out after the game is released, and by the guy who reviewed the PC version?

Firstly after 70 odd hours on a PC playing the same game with different input is hard (hell just try play the same game with PS3 or 360 controllers, I kick ass on Fifa on 360, am crap on the PS3) and secondly are we expected to think that he actually gave the game a proper try?

Who the hell would be unbiased having to replay the same game straight away and who would play more than the first hour or two?

Every review agrees the PC version is superior, but Eurogamer seems to be the only place that didn't actually treat the 360 version as it's own game.

thanks to EG for once again providing a thoughtful, balanced and nuanced viewpoint.

i say this because there may be an inevitable backlash of folks insisting EG are "wrong", and quoting 9/10 scores in other sites as proof.

Having played some ten hours or so of the 360 version so far, I kind of agree with most of the points raised in this review, but for some reason it keeps pulling me in and I keep enjoying it despite these falws, imperfections or whatever you want to call them. It does kind of feel like an older game, but I don't really see that as a problem.

It has to be said I am happy in my heart of hearts that a game is clearly best on the PC, you just can't recreate a mouse and keyboard with a controller.

Some games are always going to suffer for that and everyone just needs to accept that and stop ballsing up PC development to try and fix it.

I'm enjoying the game, although I knew not of the PCs more expansive combat system. But the 360 gfx are shit.

EDIT: Don't mark me down fucktards, I have the 360 version and those textures are awful.

@ Fidjit, if you mean Metacritic and the like, a lot of those are multi-format sites and the PC copy was the first version to be sent out for review. It's more than likely the site editors will just have tagged their reviews as multi-format, despite being reviewed on PC.

I'm all for different opinions and such, and I'd even agree that the PC version is the way to go if you want to play this game.. but 6/10, are you serious? I thought you guys were harsh on the PC version, but this is just ridiculous. Yes, the combat and pacing is changed to make it more like Mass Effect, rather than Baldur's Gate, but it's still a suberb game. I'd give it an 8/10 for the story alone.

Even with a few niggling problems, I can't see how anyone could possibly justify giving the console version such a low score.

Interesting enough the two guys who did the reviews on both the pc- and 360-versions at eurogamer.de gave it a 10 out of 10 each...

Well, but that's only the german sister-site of course ...probably retards, huh? ;P

How disappointing. Really fancied this on my Xbox. In particular, I was looking forward to the zoomed-out view of things, reminiscent of Dungeon Siege back when I had a gaming PC. It seems unforgivable to lose such features on a current-gen console; they'll never compete with PCs, but plenty of console games have scalable, persistent gaming environments. Pisser.

Hmmm.

Having played both versions I have to say they both have their good and bad points. Personally I think the differences aren't the total screw up that reviewer is trying to suggest but, hey, it's only an opinion when you get right down to it. Personally I would have preferred the combat turn based but we can't have everything...

I hope EG does a PS3 review to, with the extra storage space the sound and textures should be better (as noted by gamespot). Seen some complaints about the framerate though, but hopefully Bioware can fix that with a patch.
