Double XP weekend in Gears of War 2

Starts now. Ends Monday.

Epic's giving the Gears of War 2 multiplayer scene a fillip with a double XP event this weekend.

From 9am GMT today [that's 10am British Summer Time, 11am in the rest of Europe - Official Eurogamer Time Monitor] until 1pm GMT on Monday, you'll get double the experience points for every kill and capture, so you'll rank up that bit faster.

Something to keep you going until the weighty Dark Corners DLC arrives, anyway. More Gears 2 stuff on the Gears 2 gamepage.

    The same thing as in other games + new achievements. Maybe i will rank up to 25 this weekend then.

    Game totally spoilt by local hosting. I beg they have dedicated servers for gears 3.

    Only large battle games such as frontlines use dedicated servers.

    @Xerx3s dont you mean only games on xbox? on pc dedicated server is a requirement, why should we expect less just because it is on a console, especially when gears is meant to be a flagship title.

    And yes Left4dead uses dedicated servers so please STFU

    ORLY?

    Dawn of War 2 has P2P servers on PC. All Blizzard games as well. Etc... etc...

    That being said.. I think FPS games should use dedicated servers for ranked games.

    Can't say I've ever had much issue finding a game online. And with this, perhaps the short slog to 50 will be even shorter...

    since release i've managed to find about 5 decent horde games and that's it

    dig it out every few weeks and try again only to sit and stare at the screen for 20 minutes waiting for it to match me with people

    then i quit this process and play something else

    I'm surprised anyone still plays this after 3 updates and then the unplayable lag oh and the cheek to release maps straight after it's released.

    Havent played GoW2 online very much, but STILL there are plently of people who are chuffed to do this regularly, if its make them happy then who to complain?

    That said, certainly hopes that MS and Epic hear the gamers cries for dedicated servers and should be used, ranked matches or for FPS (fast game) etc.

    Just agreed with my mates today that we ll do Horde tonight and go up to level 50 for first time hopefully! Still a good blast of fun and probably why still is popular.
