He said plastic boxes instead of plastic discs... referring to cartridges, not jewel cases.

WonderBoy in Monsterland is possibly the best platformer on the SMS. It was awesome. It was also pretty tough as some of the jumps were difficult to execute. However it was extremely satisfying to get to the end in fll Legendary gear.

The MD version that was a cross between Monsterland and Dragons Trap is also awesome. And on Wiiware IIRC.

Wonderboy in Monster Land is one of my favourite SMS games. It's fantastic.

The only minor annoyance is that section of the final level where you have to hop between elevator blocks. Very frustrating.

Mario Golf 64 was great. Many a night gathered around the old N64 with my mates and beers...and stuff!

Hope it's not remembered through rose tinted and slightly blurry red eyed glasses :)

Why get the SMS version of Wonderboy, when you can get the TG-16 version which has better graphics? Of course, it is a fanatistic game.

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking of The Dragon's Trap.

I only ever rented MG64, so I don't remember a lot about it. Not sure whether it's worth buying considering the fact that I own Toadstool Tour.

Love Wonder Boy in Monster Land. I still remember the days when I played it everyday knowing where all the hidden money bags and secret shops were but just couldn't defeat the Dragon at the very end of the game. Having downloaded it I'm wishing I still did as it's certainly one of the toughest games I've played!

I really enjoyed Mario Golf on the N64. Opened up everything it had to offer, even importing characters from the GBC version. Things got a lot easier then, as a bit of levelling on the GBC lead to a character with a 300 yard straight drive.

did anyone ever manage a hole in one on mario golf 64? i tried so many times as i wanted to see the animation that went with it, but no joy.

if they release an updated mario golf for the wii with the improved motion sensing technology, well, i might then finally have a reason for getting a wii.

I got the most wonderous hole-in-one ever. 2nd hold of one of the courses, quite a short one. Blasted it... went straight in. None of that rolling on the green rubbish. Straight in the hole from above. Needless to say I screamed like the small child that I was.

One of the best moments of my life that was.

@Toothball

I also imported characters from the GBC version to the N64 version. Although I was quite disappointed that they were only 3 save slots on the GBC version as I wanted to import all 4 characters, something Camelot would later rectify with Mario Tennis. Also, have you ever imported the character Azalea into the N64 version? I did, and I didn't like her over-the-top posh accent.

My favourite course from the GBC version was the Dune Club, because I like the course music.
