I thought the fourth one was shit. 3rd one was brilliant though.

The fourth could have been better if the whole game wasn't constantly recycled but the gameplay was there. 3 is brilliant and I rather adore the first one too. The less said about 2, the better.

So the best Devil May Cry game sold the worse?

What is the world coming to?

I loved, LOVED the original and Dante's Awakening but number two is pish-posh and the fourth outing is a disappointment after DMC3 especially considering the combat took a step backwards.

It looks very much like Devil May Cry 3's sales suffered from the poor critical and fan reception to the second game, which is generally considered the worst in the series to date. Never did play that game though, purely because of the bad reviews.

I thought the third game was way too hard personally, it made the original Ninja Gaiden look easy! Even the re-released special edition was still too hard for me, which is a shame as I so wanted to play that game.

I loved the original game on the PS2 and did complete it from memory but, boy, was it a struggle! For me, the best game was the fourth, simply because the difficulty level was just right and I actually completed it without any problems on the PS3! Really enjoyed it too although recycling the levels and bosses for Dante was a bit cheap.

DMC 4 was a great game imo, however it was my first DMC experience since I never got a PS2, but now the game is cross platform and out on the Xbox i finally got the chance, and from that perspective DMC 4 is a very entertaining game :D will def buy DMC 5 if/when that game hits the stores.

@Darren

I thought the same about DMC3, hard as nails, plus I'm not the fastest reacting gamer on the planet (especially after a few medicinal stogies).

I found DMC4 much more my level of difficulty, but it doesnt quite have the same charm even though it looks gorgeous. I am quite enjoying some of the puzzles though, and the boss fights are a lot of fun. I always wanted to punch a giant toad demon, but never quite had the nerve to in real life...

"and the boss fights are a lot of fun"

Capcom know how to make good boss fights. The bosses in DMC4 where great but got recycled wich was a shame. RE5 has some of the best bosses in the history of gaming. Just like RE4.

Surprised the second game outsold the third one. DMC2 was awful!

Less talking about sales and an announcement for dmc 5 would be good. Hopefully without nero aswell.
