I don't like Activision, but I don't think this price is that bad. Less than I expected really. The Rock Band launch price was also less than I though it would be, so I didn't have a problems with that either. Also cost less than the Steel Battalion rig I've got. I'm not all that interested in DJ Hero though, so won't be getting it anyway.

"We don't comment on our product pricing strategies," said the publisher, ominously, before commenting on the products value and indirectly the product pricing.

I'm always reminded of Homer Simpson when I read this kind of thing: "I never apologize, Lisa. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am."

Is a company telling you that their expensive product is worth the cost really all that surprising? I've no doubt it'll sell shedloads.

Was interested in this until they announced the price.

Will wait a while for it to drop, don't mind waiting, like GH etc, crazy to buy on release IMO.

The Steel Battalion rig is massive, has two big sticks, 40 buttons, metal flip switches and an extremely heavy duty all-metal three pedal board. Add to this the fact that it was fairly limited, as was always the plan, and it's not really comparable. I bet production costs per unit on that thing is several multiples of the DJ Hero deck. The DJ Hero deck is a small, single, all-plastic unit with three buttons. Your argument is like saying a £40 MadCatz steering wheel wouldn't be that expensive at £160 because a G25 is £200.

@Zomoniac:

There's also the likelyhood of sequels to consider in this case. We're pretty much guaranteed Activision will make more of them as they think they can get away with. Steel Battalion is good for two games, although the pair of them could possibly be considered as one, since it's the single and multiplayer versions. And the multiplayer servers are probably long gone, leaving my only option for that being to drag my rig and old Xbox to a friend's house and have some lonely 1 vs 1 matches. Someone shelling out for the deck now would likely see more use than my rig did.

Don't know why I'm arguing though, since I don't like Activision or this game. Any factor that stops people buying this one is fine by me.

Yeah, but this is Activision. DJ Hero 2 will be released with a 4-button deck and DJ Hero 3 with a 5-button deck and they'll all be incompatible with one another :)

Nah, they'll add features that no one uses like the Guitar track pad thing. That was such a good feature I hear they included the option to switch it off.

Oh god, when did the worst troll from the CVG site starting posting on EG?!

And for the record if it wasn't for the Hip Hop movement of the early 80's DJing would still be the sole property of someone like Jimmy Saville.

80's hip-hop is a FAR cry from most the junk playing out today, which IS pop. a quick look at the charts tells us that.

80's hip-hop djs actually had skill. true turntablists. i'd like to see fiddy behind a pair of decks.

haha some fiddy cent fans in the audience i see....... sad bastards!

truth is there is no hip-hop dj's that can still use a turntable in todays hip-hop. they are pop artists.

like michael jackson was pop (the king of) but he was a far cry from s club 7 - thats what people think of when they hear 'pop'. some of you dont have a clue. the beatles were pop FFS. mega talented.

I particularly like how Activision don't even have DJ Hero listed on their website! And I can't see a forum for us to go complain over there on.

No, instead, they tell other sites how "great" and "tremendous" they are...............then run before anyone can say otherwise!!!!

You are being very narrow in your definition of hip-hop grasshopper. Ther is a lot more to it than what you've seen in the charts.

I'm not sure there is any point because you wouldn't know them anyway. Here's a couple off the top of my head. Copperpot from the US and Blufoot from the UK.

then thats who should be in the game.

i seen that tracklist. its all mash-ups... thats the job of the dj, to use individual tracks and splice them up with each other. whats left to do? press corresponding button on cue?

nonsence.

If there is 100 songs as they say then 79p a song plus the cost of the game and Deck, it makes sense price wise. Still not happy though.

TREMENDOUS VALUE???????????????????????

LOL, save a few more £ and you could afford an XBox 360, so I don't think ANY game + "controller" is worth the asking price of a system.....

@ svd_grasshopper

how can you mark down neutral comments?

Music genre fanboyism is as grating as console fanboyism. Here endeth the lesson.

Was looking forward to this. It was an interesting spin on making the genre work and E3 reports sounded quite promising. Then as usual, Activision ruined it like they are ruining everything recently. And quite frankly they can piss off if they expect anyone to pay that price. I never imagined a company getting worse than the 'old' EA but here we are.

Grasshoper,

I am reluctant to be brought down to your level but has it occured to you that judging all hip hop music based on commercial hip hop in the charts is the same as judging all dance music based on commercial dance music in the charts.

Because by your logic all dance music must be shit because the Venga Boys are dance music and they are shit.

I actually happen to like a lot of electronic music (leftfield, Amon Tobin, Boards of Canada, Prodigy, Aphex Twin) but I find instrumental hip hop more satisfying to mix. Am I also brainwashed by mainstream radio and marketing?
