No i'm not. If you'd given an average game 10/10, and there was a full screen advert along with it. Or if you'd given an average game 9/10 only for us to find out you're friends with one of the guys who made it and keep doing articles on him... .. THEN i'd be wondering if there was corruption (but only after i'd played it). As it stands, i've not played it - and have too many 360 games lined up to play to even consider buying it.. So I cant say one way or the other. But I didnt say you gave it a low score for corrupted reasons did i? I'd have thought a "journalist" *cough* would understand that? Now I'm wondering if sir protests too much - a guilty conscience perhaps?

Unwittingly funny? I'm pretty sure Monolith were fully aware of how ridiculous the entire game is. Have you read some of the disaster files? They contain stuff like "You should drop your shit and run when this happens" as advice to survive disasters and mention that multiple disasters hitting at once is 'extremely unlikely'. The entire game is basically a piss take of the American holiday blockbuster. Hell I don't want to ruin the epic finale but it includes dialgue like "this is the bit where the hero kicks arse" and "Alright girl what's your line?"
The game is definitely unpolished and certainly no masterpiece but it is so much fun and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have been 50/50 about this game, bought it on release then traded it on after the 1st couple of levels were really dull. Then saw it on sale for £15 at Game recently and decided to give it another go. Got to level 20 and threw the game away in disgust as the driving levels have the worst controls ever in any game I have played in 25 years. Massive over-steer and totally unresponsive. Ruined an okay game, I wanted to see what happened at the end but gave up in sheer frustration. Avoid, was a 6/10 game until then. Now 0/10 as the driving levels are just horrible. 1st time I have been unable to complete a game because of the controls. They should have had an option for you to use a pad or the nunchuck for the driving.

The score is wrong. it really is.
Lau2j: I had trouble with the driving sections too untill I realised you need to hold the pad with the buttons FACING you. Not flat. My friend pointed this out to me and amazingly he was right. Oversteer GONE! But I must admit, some parts are polished and look amazing, others are somewhat unfinished looking :S but the score is wrong. Great game. |
