DICE doing five Battlefield games News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3

DICE exec Ben Cousins has confirmed that the team is currently working on no less than five titles in its Battlefield franchise, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

That includes the previously announced Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield: Bad Company, due out this Friday.

However, the team is also at work on three other games in the series. These include a traditional core game for consoles, and a new collaboratoin with Neowiz being developed specifically for the Korean market.

"Since the start of this year I've been working as executive producer for the entire Battlefield franchise," said Cousins, delivering his keynote presentation at GDC Paris. "We've got five titles in development at the moment, which is probably more than you expect.

Battlefield publisher Electronic Arts holds a 19 per cent stake in Korean outfit Neowiz, which operates FIFA Online in the region for EA. The two companies announced last year that they intend to co-develop four more games for Asia, with Neowiz set to publish two of the projects in Korea and Japan.

Should be "no fewer than five" not "no less". ;)

Agreed, thats the ONLY one im interested in, although it has to be said it will be just more of the same but with an improved gfx engine.

BF2 is still the best PC squad based online shooter out there.

BF3 for PC is all we need. Agree with Bagpus, BF2 is still the best. Must have clocked up 400 hours on road to jallahahabad.

Another five Battlefield games?!? Talk about milking a franchise to death... I won't be buying or playing any of them mind.

/wishes DICE would make RalliSport Challenge 3 instead of all these tedious military-themed online shooters.

I'll just chip in, BF3 please, I hope.

Also, I like your idea Kraftwurm, BF2 for 360 would be an instant buy for me. Bad Company just doesn't do it for me, BF2 is still the king.

More than I'd expect?

No, it's more than I'd want.

I love battlefield, but really wonder what I'm getting from these new games that I don't already have in the 4 BF games that I already own?

BF3 please. 128+ players at once, modern theme, new engine, destructible terrain, PC, keyboard and mouse, 'nuff said.
