Buttonmashing, the one thing PC games never do.

It's not a port, space ace. According to interviews with capcom, the newer games - DMC 4, Lost Planet, Street Fighter 4 - are all developed on the PC and THEN ported to consoles.

I'm pretty surprised anyone can claim they managed to fight their way through any DMC game (barring the second one, obviously) via button mashing. I mean, all others feature pretty complex combat systems that require you to actually plan and strategise and THEN execute your actions...

Given the way those knights behave I'm betting no-one will ever finish it on the hardest mode. No way you survive against 20 knights. Everytime you start a combo you'd be hit and forced to re-start it again.
