Destroy All Humans PS3 cancelled

Xbox 360 version still on the way though.

THQ has confirmed that the next Destroy All Humans game is coming to Xbox 360 only - and not PS3 as previously announced.

Speaking to Shacknews, the publisher blamed "development issues" for the cancellation. Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon is now due to launch in the US on 1st December, with a European release date still to be confirmed.

Here's hoping it's more enjoyable than the DAH game for Wii released earlier this year. Still burns.

Does anyone else think its funny that there is still an advert for pre-ordering the game on the ps3 next to the article?

Also, lol @ lack of development skills.

Pretty much what mcbi4kh2 said. Maybe if we pre-oder, Shopto won't realise and send it anyway? YOu know it makes sense.

Does seems like the devs are just rubbish, since there are enough PS3s to justify making PS3 games now. Still, after the first one they've not really changed, so I'll just buy that for my alien needs.
  • mcbi4kh2 #3 3 years ago

Nope, we all know that the one true console this gen is the Wii.
    ps3 and 360 are next gen :/

Nice to see devs waking up to the fact that the PS3 is shit for making games, too much money and time has to be invested in the PS3 version to get it up to the standard of the 360. Concentrate on the 360 guys, it makes more sense.

I also find it funny that in the Shopto magazine which I got when Resistance 2 was delievered there's a text code for pre-ordering L4D on the PS3.

    It was in print ffs.
  • mcbi4kh2 #6 3 years ago

    @negotiator
I take it your not a business negotiator.

Concentrate on the 360 guys, cut your potential market in half you know it makes more sense.
    Fixed.

rrod much? Both badly designed, in different ways though. The future should be a playbox4-720.

One thing is clear, it's not Sony's fault.
  • Darren #11 3 years ago

The game likely won't be much good anyway if the Xbox sequel was anything to go by so I don't think PS3 owners should lose much sleep over it. Looked absolutely awful when I saw the trailer some time back. Granted it may well have improved since then but I'm not holding my breath...

One less shit game for the PS3, one more shit game for the 360 then.
  • neonemesis #14 3 years ago

Sad but not overly surprising considering it's the same THQ who canned the PS2 version of the DAH game that came out on the Wii. The first two were really enjoyable and hilarious to boot.
  • SpyroViper #15 3 years ago

O well. One more crap game I won't be getting for my PS3. Infact, it's more fo a blu-ray player nowadays. The first one was the best though, however I might still get this and Prince of Persia for the 360.
  • Ryze #16 3 years ago

I don't see how stating what is obvious and very true amounts to trolling.

Nice to see that the faux troll accusing touchy SDF members are out early today.

I don't get why the 360 tarts are posting here. also, considering that most of you seem to agree that the game is shite the only ppl that are going to suffer from this are the 360 players since the misinformed public might actually fall for it and purchase it. reminds me a bit of the wii, a console for the misinformed masses. not sure where the PS3 fits though... I reckon a glorified blu ray player fits the bill.

To be honest, it's more like losing a third of their potential market rather than half. If that is balanced by cutting your development costs in half, or potentially more if the PS3 is requiring more resources, then it's not necessarily a bad business decision.
  • SpyroViper #20 3 years ago

There is a difference between a troll/Fanboy and a person who simply thinks the Ps3's catalog as of late is a bit on the boring side.

I own a PS3, 360, DS and iMAC. So I'm not really a troll, but it's my opinion that the PS3 is kinda boring, which is why I use it as a Blu-Ray player.

  • SEVQA #21 3 years ago

Its clear its a finance issue, THQ just struck a deal with a Microsoft umbrella for in game advertising, so you can see who is scratching THQ's back - and in the wake of having sacked a load of people things are looking bright at THQ! LOL (well they can’t get much worse!)
  • mcbi4kh2 #22 3 years ago

    @Fandoid
To be honest, it is closer to a half than a third.
If it cuts development costs in half then they were doing it wrong.
So as I said many moons ag0, lol @ lack of development skills.

Thank God. One less sh*t cross platform game to put in the next Xbox/PS face off.

NickJC - enjoy your sh*t game. We won't miss it.

"... Sony... stop developing for it"
You really are not the brightest troll under the bridge, are ya?
  • SteveB #24 3 years ago

Also, lol @ lack of development skills.

It’s not lack of development skills though. It is a lack of time, money and resource.

It’s a well documented fact that the PS3 is more difficult to develop for. Multi-format titles can look as good, if not better than their Xbox equivalents, but it takes a lot of the three things I mention above, which not every developer/publisher will have.

It’s the PS3’s architecture and development tools that are the cause of poor ports and cancellations, not the developers.

Maybe for the next next generation consoles Sony and Microsoft can maybe collaborate on simplifing the portablity from one system to another. It's the way the world is going. Sit Sony & Microsoft bosses down and get them to watch a few episodes of Sesame Street regarding co-operation!!

  • IneptPercy #27 3 years ago

The game may not be rubbish, it may return to the form of the first 2 and look a bit nicer, in which case I will buy it.
  • SteveB #28 3 years ago

What like the 360 and the PC ?

It makes no sense to me why Sony didn’t adopt the same architecture as the 360/PC. That’s what developers know, so why make it more difficult for them ? Coming a year later to market they would have had the graphical edge over the 360 as well.

The cynic in me thinks that Sony being last generation’s market leader thought that the PS3 would be the lead platform again and therefore it would make it difficult to port to the 360. In actual fact the opposite has happened.
  • Chufty #29 3 years ago

Why do people WANT the PS3 to do badly? Do you know what happens when there is a monopoly?
  • Darren #30 3 years ago

Leave the PS3 alone, it's a great machine. Granted not quite as good as the Xbox 360 yet for games, particularly first party ones, but it more than makes up for that in other areas like Blu-ray playback and the superb media hub features. I couldn't be without mine now and it has this year's best game for me, namely Metal Gear Solid 4. :D
  • makeamazing #31 3 years ago

I do find it funny the odd Xbox fan boys (yes i know the PS3 has some as well)...Seriously though, how can anyone say the PS3 is crap when there are lots of people on the EG forums on their 3rd 4th or even 8th Xbox because of failure. Fanboys should be locked up and not allowed on the internet, they are devoid of any intelligence.
  • makeamazing #32 3 years ago

    I really don't care.

I played many times on a PS3 and it does nothing for me.

But then we dont care that you dont care... dont forget not everyone has your opinion on it. ;)

    >There's absolutely nothing wrong with the PS3 as a piece of hardware though

So why do games get canceled for it then?

And it still looks terrible to me... graphically sub-standard yet still managing to cram in obligatory screen tearing *and* a poor framerate. Looks like one to avoid to me...
  • MKorkia #37 3 years ago

Oh yes... Next Gen Console Wars part 63557 featuring... Xbox360 & PS3!

Has anybody thought that maybe they developed for X360 first and then were going to convert it for PS3 like most multiplatform games are apparently made today?

  • Darren #38 3 years ago

@Dizzy - Because not all developers have the time or resources to master its complicated hardware, that's why. It's all about money and if coding a game for the PS3 proves to be too costly well then the publishers will decide to scrap the game to cut their losses.

Seems to me that Sony still haven't learnt anything from all the similar complaints about their PS2 and seem to have thrown together the machine with the intention of making it look good compared with the competition but with little regard for how it all would work practically. Coding for it seems to be a lot of hassle from what I've read but unlike the previous generation where the PS2 dominated, it's the Xbox 360 and Wii that are leading the market so there's less desire to make games for the PS3 anyway. I seem to remember the GameCube getting a lot of cancelled games for the same reasons; it was the smallest market.

Is this the death knell for the PS3?
  • mr_ruberfon #41 3 years ago

  • GamesConnoisseur #42 3 years ago

"Is this the death knell for the PS3?"

Nope dont think so, but I sincerely hope its the death knell for the 'blind brand loyalty', as whilst the machine itself is pretty comparable to X360 with slightly less advantage in visual stake (AA, graphic memory). Its the company who overpromised the potential of the PS3 for too long and that still not easily forgiven.

This particular game get cancelled is not really big news at the end of the day, what would be a really worrying news is if mroe games get cancelled for PS3 akin to Gamecube but come on, PS3 will not get into the same situation as Gamecube! PS3 is not just a game machine but quite successful home media hub as well. PS3 is also entrenched as HD movie player in the mind of a lot of people.

    PS3 will do well!

    Gaol said
"50% revenue does not neccesarily equal 50% costs. You fail at business. "

I never said it did. I was simply pointing out that reducing your potential sales is not necessarily bad idea. If the cost saving is substantial enough it may be possible to make more profit on lower sales. Now my original post was "If that is balanced by cutting development costs in half", key word being "If". As several people have pointed out, due to shared assets, time already in development etc. etc., it is never going to be that simple.

    @mcbi4kh2
Taking worldwide sales figures from VGChartz, the PS3 is on 17m and the X360 is on 23m which makes it a 42.5/57.5% split. So, I'll concede that it is closer to half than I realised.
