Demon's Souls UK release uncertain
Update: US publisher Atlus responds.
Atlus has announced a 6th October release for excellent and exclusive PS3 role-playing game Demon's Souls in the US. But its European whereabouts are uncertain.
Update: Atlus USA spokesperson Aram Jabbari has offered us this:
"I'm not aware of any plans/publishers for bringing the game to Europe at this time. Hopefully the game continues to generate word of mouth and positive critical reception (like your great import review you folks did) and a European publisher takes notice."
Sony, which published the game in Japan, told Eurogamer it had "no plans to publish [Demon's Souls] in Europe at present".
Similarly Tecmo KOEI, which brought Atlus series Shin Megami Tensei to Europe, told us there are "no plans" to do the same with Demon's Souls.
Of From Software's previous games, Xbox 360 exclusive Ninja Blade was delivered by Microsoft and Armored Core for Answer was a Ubisoft title.
We spoke to a Ubisoft rep who was "not aware of any plans" for the company to publish Demon's Souls here.
Nevertheless, Demon's Souls is unlikely to go without a European publisher for long, as its quality is unquestionable. Head over to our Demon's Souls review to find out much more.

I may as well import it now.

Yes I'm THAT cheapass.

Unfortunately our "Market" is Europe (and beyond!) so a simple English version will never suffice for a publisher in Europe.

However I really want to play through it again to get my character past level 100.
Unfortunately second playthrough is even more painful than the first.
Will...you...stop...killing...me

It's about time Atlus Spoiled me for once... >_>
Nonetheless, I'd prefer to just get a European copy. Curse you, Atlus! Get a European publishing arm, dammit!

They always fill in the customs declaration the 'right' way so there's no tax to pay.
*edit* And most importantly, you can pay in Canadian Dollars which have a more favourable exchange rate with the Pound than the US Dollar.

It took 5 days to arrive - post free. Also, costs US$66.99 [£41.10]
PS - I would like to add that there was no problem with UK customs - the package was assigned to me as GAME - no issues!

Indeed. My copy arrived yesterday too from Yes Asia. £41 and took only 8 days to arrive from ordering, free postage too!
It's brutally hard but bizarrely addictive. I must have played the same first part of the first world a dozen times through due to repeatedly dying. I know a lot of people would give up at that point and trade it in but I love coming back for more.

Logged about 20+ hours so far. Wonderful wonderful game

Yep, put game in and patch downloaded and installed fine. The game works as if it were a normal PAL release, online component, everything.

It's expensive at the moment but with the release of the US version, you can get it for a substantially cheaper price.
Come October, get it from videogamesplus.ca
Who cares if they're dumb enough to not publish it in Europe.
Playing the Asian version on a PAL console - You get all the updates and works 100% great online. You can play with Randoms or ur friends...etc.

Means that people with different versions will not be able to play with each other.
Sigh. I suppose I could trade my Asian copy in once the US one is out.

Just register to the site, order game, choose free delivery, pay by Paypal if you use it (if not use credit card) and wait a week or so for it to arrive.
Just make sure you order the Chinese (Asian) version.

Hmmm. Want to get mine delivered to Dublin.

As I said before though, be wary. You won't be able to play with US players once their version comes out, and let me tell you it's hard finding people to co-op or even invade your game as it stands right now; this is because the vast majority of players are 9 hours or so ahead of us and aren't online when we are. The only consistent time I get lots of players is on saturday and sunday mornings.

/Slow clap.
I hope someone publishes it, otherwise I'll have to get it from the US as my first import game.

Combined with the fact that it is hardly an obscure Japanese game style. It's a very western styled RPG dungeon crawler.
SCEE are a bunch of useless bellends, which is why I bought my PS3 from America and this game from Hong Kong.

..... and it's pretty damn good. Very hard, but very good. You do die a lot, but you do feel like you're getting better slowly
