Demo Roundup - Christmas to 14th Jan News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

The Club or Yakuza 3. Those are our pick of the new demos. You can probably scoot off now. Not a lot else to suggest unless you own a PC. Oh, you do. Better read on then!

For you there are a handful, lead by gritty shooter Kane & Lynch. Reviews were unspectacular, despite there being a great story buried underneath some slapdash action. US PS3 accounts can grab a demo of this as well.

PC enthusiasts might also like a taste of Sam & Max Season Two with Moai Better Blues, which we will be reviewing very soon. Otherwise it's Dawn of War expansion Soulstorm and sporty remake Speedball 2 - Tournament demos for you.

Elsewhere Japanese PS3 account owners can grab a pair of Yakuza 3 demos, as mentioned, while Europeans can snaffle up one for The Club - also available on Live.

Apart from those you will have to rewind a couple of weeks for the Burnout: Paradise demo on Live and PSN.

I can't download the demo for The Club. I get an error blade telling me the demo is unavailable in my region. My region is set to United Kingdom. My Xbox Live billing address is in the UK. Everything fails.

Yes indeed, Burnout demo was available on PSN not long after Live. Great demo too, even if it does highlight the lack of retry 'flaw'.

"what about burnout on PSN?"

That's a horrible oversight isn't it? Shall I fire Bertie? He was being quite grumpy in the office yesterday too - that's at least two strikes overall. Oh, I've updated it anyway, and added Dark Messiah too.
