Dead Rising and Lost Planet to remain Xbox 360-exclusive
Says Capcom man.
Whatever's going on with Devil May Cry 4 (it's coming to Xbox 360 and PC as well as PS3 - where have you been?), Lost Planet and Dead Rising "are not slated to appear on Wii or PS3 as far as current plans go".
That's according to Capcom's director of strategic planning and research, Christian Svensson, who was drawn into clarifying his earlier comments on the publisher's official forum. Previously he had said that Capcom is "committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible" in reference to DMC4's situation.
"The quote delivered above references our strategy moving forward, not something that is necessarily retroactive. You can see evidence of this with our previously stated [Resident Evil 5] plans going to 360 and PS3 simultaneously," Svensson noted.
So why are Lost Planet and Dead Rising exclusive, then? "I'm bound by [non-disclosure agreements] on these matters so I can't divulge why this is the situation." Fair enough. With Capcom having said Dead Rising sequels are likely, though, it's an issue the company's probably going to have to return to at some point.

I bet he's not allowed to say they will come to other platforms because MS paid them money not to. Same situation as with Assassins Creed earlier. But if PS3 installed base remains relatively small, they'll not port the games of course.

Personally, I think the sequels, rather than the current games, will go multiplat.

Still my favourite Xbox 360 game... good times at the mall.

It probably isn't worth it, especially when you could be concentrating on making the sequels multi-platform right from the off.
And there you have the rub - DMC4 isn't released yet, so making it multi-platform is probably fairly easy.
Also, look at it from Capcom's position: you have a game coming out on the last-to-market console, which is likely to have the lowest install base for at least a year.
It makes sense to release it on a comparable spec system (which is arguably easier to code for), which is likely to have a far greater install base for at least a year.
It does NOT make sense to move a title from the more common format to what is at present the 'niche' format. Especially when converting it is likely to lead to significant problems.

Dead rising and Lost planet sold more than 1 million copies each. That's a fair number on any system.

Unless MS cough up lotsa dough to keep subsequent titles exclusive, expect the next entries in these series to be multiformat.

But it sells way better than 360. With an even poorer lineup. Had Nintendo been able to keep up with demand, it would probably be the console with the largest installed base.
I agree for business 360 is the most rewarding: it doesn't require any creativity nor strays from the beaten path. For a gamer, that makes it the most boring console as nothing revolutionary is to be expected from it. PS3 could probably do amazing things but is too dificult to develop for so unles it begins to sell like hot-cakes, its potential will never be tapped. My hopes are on the Wii, although the creativity to actually do something good with the controller is beyond most developers and they'll go for the easy shit that they always did on 360 and poor PS3 ports.

Here's a list of more next-gen games with depth that wii can only dream of: Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Lost Oddysee, Bioshock (E3 best game), Assassin Creed, Fable 2, Cry-On, Half Life 2, Overlord (Codemasters E3 surprise hit), Too Human - all games adding true original ideas.
Last your comment '...about PS3 doing amazing things, but to difficult to'...Urm, i 've played Motorstorm, Resistance - look nice but i'm sure my 360 can handle them; but PS3 handle Gears Of War, Lost Planet - it already seems to lose against most multiformat games eg: Call Of Duty 3, Tony Hawk, NBA Homecourt, Madden 07 etc; lets not forget the PS3 did have more development time then 360/Wii, due to retail delays (360 was actaully bought forward for Christmas, PS3 had a extra year to develope games) . And remember 360 hasn't even used it's core technology/ tread/rsx gpu's to the full - still to be exploited. Have you seen Lost Oddysee (claimed by gaming journalist to have had the best gaming visuals on a home console), have you seen the new Project Gothem - AWESOME!
Oh! here's something about FFIII (though i'm not bothered with this over hyped rpg)

Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 are another story entirely.

If most games come out both platforms.. then there's little point in owning both.
At the moment though, I cant see much of a point in owning either - that said, dead rising was my 2nd favourtist game of last year..

"Is there actually that much interest in these games? It's not exactly triple-A games. Well, maybe on the X360 scale. "
Not played Dead Rising then have we?
Anyway, my thoughts on these being exclusive are that it serves those fuckers right who signed that petition.
It's almost as if Capcom had done this deal (likely it was done before that petition though) purely to say to them "This is what it feels like to deny other people the rights to play games you have access to. Serves you right, you cunts"
I have no qualms whatsoever if these were to be released on the PS3 (hated Lost Planet anyway), as I feel that the more people who are able to play them the better, as long as it doesn't lead to "___ version is waaaay better than ____ version" fanboy bullshit.
But I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a small part of me is glad that those Petition Pricks got a taste of what they preach.
