"Loads of posters sit here complaining that there's nothing on the Wii yet when great games like this come out it barely dents the charts. See Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, No More Heroes and Okami for previous examples.

If you buy 'em they'll make 'em. It's that simple!"

The problem is that a lot of those games don't appeal to most people (whether casual or core gamers). Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, No More Heroes and Okami are all good games but few people will get them because of the cutesy/weird presentation. Also many Wii games are over priced (Boom Blox for sure, Okami was a port which I wasn't willing to pay for 'till I found it for £20). I haven't got Zack & Wiki because I'm not a fan of puzzle games (most people aren't - the dungeons in Zelda are enough for me because they nicely break up the action) and No More Heroes I might get, but its just too weird for me to know if I'll really like it.

Wii will always attract these oddball projects because there is less risk - cheaper to develop for. As a consequence though, most of the good stuff won't sell well. I plan to get deBlob at some point, though.

Sounds good, i know there's a freeware version out there on the internet and the Wii version is basically a port of it but going to buy it any ways, £18 at play.com is a great price :)

@azmol01 - Yes, of course I bought Okami, Mercury Meltdown and Zack & Wiki and enjoyed them all - I'd be a hypocrite if I was complaining and hadn't - but considering two of those are ports from other platforms as are several of the others you mentioned, I'd hardly say that makes for a quality line up of games on the Wii. Where's all the cracking first party stuff from Nintendo, hmmm? That's the only reason I bought my Wii in the first place not really for remakes of third-party software I played two years on the last gen platforms or newer third-party stuff I can play with better controls and visuals on the PS3 or Xbox 360. :P

But, yeah, it is nice when stuff like de Blob comes along, shame there aren't more games like it. Still no-one cares about what I say, right, just as no-one really cares about anything you or anyone else writes... we're all faceless nobodies on the internet after all... a soundless voice that no-one hears... and one that you can choose to block... ;)

I thought core gamers didn't give a toss about what a game looks like,it's all about how a game plays?

Also many Wii games are over priced (Boom Blox for sure, Okami was a port which I wasn't willing to pay for 'till I found it for £20).

That's a subjective issue. Okami is a fantastic game, worth full price whether it is a port or not.

haven't got Zack & Wiki because I'm not a fan of puzzle games (most people aren't

That's a lovely sweeping statement there.

@smelly: This summer was pants (I'm talking about the weather) so I played on video games I hadn't finished or wanted to go through again a few evenings during the week.

My social life is fine but not so sure about my liver and kidneys. Thanks for asking though.

Fair enough Darren, but buying the Wii for just Nintendo games seems a little silly to me. It's akin to me buying a DVD player just to watch Warner Bros movies and nothing else, crap analogy I know, but you get my drift. There's some great 3rd party stuff on the Wii and you're really missing out imo.

Nintendo have still released three big 1st party games this year, which off the top of my head is more than Sony/MS. I think the problem lies in that most core gamers only trust Nintendo products on Nintendo machines and expect a big Mario Galaxy-esque release every month, which just isn't feasible.

But to yourself and Wiithesecond, I strongly recommend No More Heroes one of the best games this year and only £19.99 @ GAME! :D

I never really get this argument, Nintendo first party games are in the main pretty darn excellent and often well exceed most stuff pumped out by the 3rd party devs. One of the reasons for this is that they seem to take their time, not take on too many projects and put games out there once they are ready. It's generally always been that way.

As I can see it you could have a Nintendo that churns out a lot of average games on a regular basis, or a Nintendo that makes great but infrequent games. After playing Mario Galaxy (still not completed!) and Mario Kart which are both beautifully polished and balanced, I know which Nintendo I would go for.

@ UGhost: crap - I was hoping the original students would get some direct royalties. Ah well maybe they got a good deal for the rights (probably not though.)

My copy of EDGE dropped through the door today, they gave de Blob 8 too, they also gave another Wii exclusive, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse an 8. There were no PS3 exclusives reviewed... I daresay people will still moan that there's nothing on the Wii worth playing, seems like it's doing OK to me if you look past the shovel ware.

Awesome game. The music rocks. Controls aren't easy though. Feels counter-intuitive at times. Looks great though, and sounds great too. I love the adaptable soundtrack.

Looks like a good game (obviously), but yet another clueless decision of wiggle-to-do-something (especially jump) and insistence on a bad auto camera means I'll give this a miss.

It's like SMG all over again.

No mention of the music system in the review! The interactive music adds a lot to the game. You start each level with a basic rythm pattern, then the music changes/gets more complex depending on your actions. Painting stuff temporarily adds more instrument riffs (each color a different one), performing well/progressing in a level generally adds more layers to the music. Absolutely brilliant, well made.
