DDO Unlimited launch delayed News

The launch of DDO Unlimited, the new free-to-play version of Turbine's Dungeons & Dragons Online MMO, has been delayed by a month until 9th September.

The relaunch was originally planned for tomorrow, 4th August.

Although DDO Unlimited was not due for launch in Europe, the delay also applies to the Module 9 content update which will bring many of Unlimited's new features - including a raised level cap, new character class and new content - to European players.

"While we are very pleased with the performance of the game and are excited about the response from the players, we are committed to delivering a high-quality experience," said executive producer Fernando Paiz on the game's website.

"We feel that more time is needed to deliver on this commitment. As a result, we are delaying our launch to ensure that we can support the massive increase in players that we are expecting and deliver them a free to play experience like none other."

We'll have more on DDO Unlimited direct from the US once it has launched.

I tried DDO when it was in late beta, i was really put off by the way instances work. Admittly iam used to free flowing in worlds like WoW and Eve, but having to instance all the bloody time is a real downer to the MMO feel. so iam not surprised that resorting to free to play model. Its not a bad thing that delayed either.

Games should always be delayed if not ready, people moan about delays but rather have something working than rushed out and broken.
