DDO level cap raised, features added

Module 9 "only the beginning" for 2009.

Turbine has unveiled the enormous list of changes arriving in the Module 9 update for Dungeons & Dragons Online.

Chief among them is the rise in the level cap to 20, which, in turn, introduces new top-level feats and abilities for the seven classes: Barbarian, Bard, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard. Adventurers will also be able to explore the plane of Shavarath and face off against the Devil legions. Only raids of 12 will survive and stand a chance at the loot.

On top of that are chat improvements, a remodelled marketplace, capstone enhancements, better targeting and combat feedback and much more.

This, wrote new DDO executive producer Fernando Paiz on the official forum, is much more than a routine update.

"It represents a major investment as we prepare the game for future growth," he says. "We know it's been a long wait and we thank you for your patience and support. We've worked hard to make DDO even better and are gearing up for an aggressive push to grow the game in 2009!

"This is only the beginning of many great things which are planned for DDO this year!"

Dungeons & Dragons Online faces off against another MMO old-timer, Guild Wars, in the next round of our Ten Level Test. It's an uphill battle, but the dice may roll in Turbine's favour. We'll see.
