Its been quit quiet around Darksiders, could be a nice stopgap until GOW3 hits.

I hope Saints Row 3 is less buggy than 2 and let's see a graphical improvement rather than a downgrade this time round. Also, while it's nice to have a V-Sync option, there's no excuse for releasing a game with screen tearing as atrociously bad as Saints Row 2 by default. That's just downright lazy IMO. You only have to look at how slick and polished GTA IV was in comparison with Saints Row 2 to realise that... GTA IV had a BETTER framerate, a 720p resolution and NO tearing. It also had far superior visuals.

Darksiders hasn't even been released yet - aren't they getting a little ahead of themselves?

But if you look at the budget that GTA had over SR that explains why the one is more polished than the other. Plus Microsoft sweetened the pot even more for exclusivtiy of DLC.

It would be great to see more of Darksiders. After we've enjoyed the first one. :)

SR 2 was more FUN though. The most important factor imo.

A few of the mini-games were silly and fun in SR2 but the rest of the game fell way below the standards set by GTA IV IMO. I enjoyed Rockstar's game far, far more even if it wasn't perfect (what game is though). I'm still playing and loving it on the PC whereas SR2 has been sat on my shelf since last November, untouched. Each to their own though.

I agree. Anyone who likes GTA4 is anti-fun and I think more games should be crammed full of immersion breaking bollocks. I'm hoping the next Elder Scrolls lets you wear retro 80's fashion and you have a sword that can fire giant lighning charged musical notes at enemies. FUN.

It was hardly immersion breaking. Saints Row makes it clear from the outset that it's not a game to be taken seriously, and it certainly wasn't the first to do that kind of thing either, GTA has had loads of silly over the top aspects in the past.

Anyway, not sure how a game that lets you customise a character any way you want could be accused of breaking immersion.

Games: serious business.

Saint's Row unfortunately puts crassness and fun over polish. While I can overlook the rudimentary graphics, I am really struggling with the terrible, terrible vehicle handling and fact that the game seems to run 50% faster than it should.

I only go it yesterday and a friend and I laughed ourselves stupid playing it, though. Prostitute uprising! Going to the plastic surgeon to make our characters into grotesque caricatures of people we know! The whole 'be cops for reality TV' thing. Pounding the living shit out of celebrity-crazed fans. Going through the courthouse, beating guards to death with plush leather chairs.

It hasn't been this mental since GTA2 (San Andreas came close, but loses because of some downright cruel missions like burying a site foreman alive in a cement-encased portaloo) nor this fun. But the driving is NOT FUN AT ALL.
