Daniel Craig didn't want to do Bond game News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Tom Bramwell

6 November, 2007

James Bond says that he didn't want to be in Activision's new James Bond game because he instinctively thought it was going to be pants.

"When I started signing contracts for Bond I said, 'I'm not doing the computer game' and they said, 'Tough, you are'," super secret agent Bond - real name Daniel Craig - said in a recent interview. "I said to the people making the Bond game, 'You've got to make this good because there is so much rubbish out there.'"

Craig/Bond also admits to sneaking the odd game of Halo when his "girlfriend" is away for the weekend. "I have to pick my time well," he explained. He thinks Halo is "good because it's shooting aliens", although he's not a fan of "those ultra-violent ones" like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Activision is currently working on a James Bond videogame having announced over a year ago that it had secured the rights until 2014. Tellingly, the publisher seems to be in no rush, preferring to invest time that the Bond games' previous M sometimes struggled to find.

The next James Bond film is due out next November.

Violence against humans in videogames; Bad!
Testicle torture scenes in movies; A-OK!

My God, in my lifetime I must have read at least a hundred press releases saying that *insert actor/director here* refused to do a game because of the low quality of film/TV franchise based games, but then after seeing the game they completely changed their minds and this one is brilliant!

Inevitable end result: low quality film/TV franchise based game.

So basically he gave the blandest, inoffensive, most scripted response you'd expect.

Besides, going by Activision's recent licenced output, the Bond game is guaranteed to be shit, anyway.

I actually remember one of the Bond games I played not too long ago as being pretty good. Can't remember which one it was though.. third latest or some such.

Why dont they just remake goldeneye with the half life 2 or UT engine or something.
Wonder if we'll ever see it on XBLA or on wii.

Doubt it will be on either, the rights are pretty fuckedup atm.

You shouldn't want to replay it, it's best left in idolising memory. Played it again a while back and it's shockingly bad. I suppose they could improve the controls to begin with.

I really like Agent Under Fire. Nightfire was ok I thought too (on the GC). The more recent ones tho have jsut been dire. I was pretty gutted when I played them.

Well at lest he's aware that is going to be a game, most movie types would simply ask how much they're going to get and then forget it ever existed.

It's not like we can expect him to be a haxxor game player/critic, after all he must spend most of his week in teh gym, maybe he could rig up a 360 to an exercise bike to sneak in some extra hours.

Interesting, although thats not what he says.

Read the article people - it says he didn't want to do the game but unfortunately didn't have a choice, and he appealed to the creators to make it good. He then lists games he plays.

He never said - "but this movie franchise game is awesome now I've seen it", if anything he's giving us a heads up :)

Everything or Nothing?

Yeah, I reckon that'd be the one, it was OK. Tomb Raider Legend reminded me of it.

From Russia With Love was meant to be OK, too, it was in the same style as Everything or Nothing.

hmmm, eurogamer gave them six each:

zuljin - Never said he did say that, I was just reminiscing to myself (and anyone who'd listen I guess). Bet they do release one though before the game is out :)
