Crysis Warhead here in September

Side-by-side with Crysis Wars.

EA plans to release PC standalone expansion Crysis Warhead and dedicated multiplayer excursion Crysis Wars in Europe on 12th September.

Crysis Warhead relives events from Crysis through the eyes of Sergeant "Psycho" Sykes, who landed on the other end of the island and has his own nanosuit, as well as an expanded armoury and more vehicles to choose from. But can he roll a pick-up truck into a hostile camp like Dutch?

Crytek designed Warhead to be more accessible, which means optimising the game to run on a much wider range of PCs.

Crysis Wars introduces TeamInstantAction to the existing multiplayer modes, which is the same as returning mode InstantAction, but in teams. PowerStruggle is also back.

There are 21 maps to stalk around; six are new for TeamInstantAction and InstantAction, and one is new for PowerStruggle.

Crytek may shun the spacebar, but has, more importantly, put a team in place to solely look after the Crysis Wars community.

Head over to our hands-on impressions of Crysis Warhead to find out more.

Where the hell did Crysis Wars come from?
  • Red-Moose #4 4 years ago

Not sure about the Wars, haven't heard about, and it wasn't mentioned in the Warhead preview. Daddy/EG what is going on? Can I plays the Wars or is it a seperate also sort-of-budget-priced MP expansion? If it is, I'll give it a miss I think, not too interested in modular games*

    *until GT5 comes out

Sorry Crytek, my PC still hasn't caught up with your system requirements.

I did have no interest in the Crysis games, but I decided to try the demo and was surprised that my PC actually ran it. It isn't nearly as hungry for high-specs as reviews had me believe - I'm guessing they all insist on cranking up every detail, I'm happy as long as it's playable.

I'm hoping that they'll release a double pack (triple if you count Wars) so I can catch up.

I wont get my hopes up for the multiplayer component crysis wars. If its anything like multiplayer in crysis then itll be an unbalanced gank-fest

    Really loved the first game...

But, if Crysis becomes another EA yearly franchise, then no sale. The last one still has loads of bugs they never bothered to fix.

i have a very high end PC... 2 ATi 4870 in crossfire, rampage, 4Gb, monitor HP (24), quadcore etc... and i must say that this game is shit, at least the first one was... it's not optimised and that's why even strong Pc's can't play it properly, i hope the sequel show's a better code, otherwise, it will be another huge failure... they just want to justify the purchase of absurdly expensive graphic cards, that's why they downgraded the compatibility and make this crap exaggeratedly demanding... well, that's just my opinion.

I've got a dual core CPU with a single nVidia 8800 GTX and Crysis ran fine on very high settings on DX9 on my machine. So if it ran like shit on 2 ATI 4870 cards I can only conclude that ATI's drivers are shit. I played through the whole thing and it ran well and looked great.

Shit drivers != shit game. Remember that.

    Hypercube

yeah, it runs like shit, but it's not because of catalyst or ATI drivers, it's because the game was dimensioned for Nvidia... they needed to patch the game, but never did. it's a marketing piece of shit... i hope all these compatibility issues are resolved in the second one, otherwise they wont see my money. oh and by the way, what resolution do you use??

The risk of crossfire I would say, some games can make no difference or even run slower on a crossfire setup. (same for Sli really)
I ran it on a Dualcore at 3ghz with 4gb ram and a single 3870 from vista with no problems at 720p with no AA.

Will try for 1080p with a 1GB 4870, maybe some AA, if not it may look better at 720 with AA.

eitherway it could do with some more optimisation, the patches helped but it could be better.
