Create Ninja Gaiden 2 Achievements News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

15 January, 2008

Team Ninja wants you to come up with some original Achievements for Ninja Gaiden 2.

In our eyes nothing will beat being rewarded 150 Gamerpoints for saving our progress in Bladestorm, but perhaps you have other ideas. And we know how creative you lot can be.

Simply pop over to the MS Gamerscore blog and add your ideas to the comments section, allocating a number of Points for each of your Achievements and describing what each should be awarded for.

We think it is a little serious over there.

  • Norris Is Next (30gp) - Finish any level on any difficulty only using fully charged heavy attacks.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is a 360 exclusive due out sometime this year. Chances are it will be frightfully difficult, like the first, but with snazzy visuals and buckets of blood.

Swish your way to our Ninja Gaiden 2 gamepage for a barrage of shots and videos.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these........

I am devoid of imagination myself unfortunately and wish to be surprised by the developers so mine are more do nots than anything clever.

But so many achievements are becoming more of a 'turn up and attend' as opposed to actually something hard/satisfying to do or even encouraging the gamer to experiment with different ways of playing the game and getting more out of it that I am becoming ever so slightly irate.

1) All achievements are mystery ones until you complete the game (on any level) (Ok that could be one I suppose - Ninja Surprise?)

The below goes for all games :

2) No achievements for completing every individual level please - best to have one for the whole game

3) No time based ones please...caveat to that is....surprise us by throwing in features or weapon unlocks after a certain time but don't tie achievements to them. That'd be lovely. Delightful even.

4) Happy to have 'collect all' achievements providing the items we are collecting actually add to the gameplay (see the increased abilities in Crackdown) otherwise its a bore and a chore.... its choring...

Oh I know 1.5) 'Ulma's Revenge' - achievement if 'controller not connected' happens during a boss fight. cos you've (nun)chucked your controller across the room and preferably not into your HDTV.....or any innocent bystanders head..... sorry missus

and 1.6) 'Doctor Ninja' - the ability to buy bandages with essence and spend time trying to patch together one of the limb-severed stricken enemies. Hear Ryu saying 'Tell me where it hurts' and 'ouch, I bet that smarts'

Sesh on and Sesh well

P.S An achievement for saving your progress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am almost impressed at the sheer audacity! Almost. But 'disgusted' comes to mind.

How about some achievements for fully upgraded weapons / nippon, or upon finding secret weapons (like the windmill shuriken of the first game) and easter eggs, or for not using health elixirs on boss fights (these could be really difficult)?

Obviously the maximum number of gamerpoints achievement award should go to gamers who have the skill to beat the game on the highest difficulty setting.

Minus 100 gamerpoints for playing the game on the easy mode. :oP

Would also like it if they made the achievements useful though, like one of the few good features of Mass Effect. When you unlock an achievement in that game it unlocks a feature in the game, giving an incentive to people who couldn't care less about gamerscore (like me).

Why bother thinking of ideas for your games when you can get random people on the internet to do it for you? Yikes, Team Ninja are so LAZY! :)
