Create a villager in Fable III

If you pre-order.

Those who pre-order upcoming role-playing game Fable III can create their own villager who will then appear in the final game.

Using the Fable III Village Maker, players can create a villager that will give your in-game hero a new quest and 1,000 gold.

It'll also "continue to interact with you on your journey to become ruler of Albion".

The creation tool can generate a male or female villager with more than 2000 different variations, including an "enthralling backstory for the character, unique personality traits, clothing, accent, hairstyles and the region they hail from".

Fable III, due out in the UK on 29th October for the Xbox 360, will be available in a Standard Edition for £45 and a Limited Collector's Edition for £60.

The PC version is delayed and currently without a release date.

So the villager you create only appears in your game? That's a shame, would have done it if they would be in everyone's game!

That seems like an innovative-- Oh wait, this is Fable. It will probably be glitched in some way.

    ;)

Edit: Negged? It was only in jest, guys. I plan on buying Fable III, since I loved the first two games.

Will you be able to "Come Back To My Place" them?
  • spekkeh #7 2 years ago

I came in here to throw up my bile over the Fable series, as I usually do, but I must genuinely say that this is a nice pre-order bonus that adds to the game in more ways than some lousy piece of armor.

It's a shame dev time is being wasted on things like this.

Well I reckon they already have a villager creator in place, so letting the community work with it only costs a bit more time in QA.

Might as well change the name from Albion to Al-wee-wee-on in advance.

Just had a go at the creator and it's a simple but effective. I guess they'll just put the character you create in the place of one they've already created.

It's a nice idea, and one that lets the gamer feel involved

This is a really cool idea. They do need to confirm which retailers this bonus applies to: probably most big ones (or at least Game/Amazon/Play) but having pre-ordered the spesh dish as soon as it appeared on Game I wanna make sure I can whack this character in the game before proceeding!

I would likely end up accidentally doing one of the following: shooting them, sacrificing them to ancient gods, pushing them off a wall, selling them to slavers, setting them on fire, marrying them, moving them to a new village or a combination of the above.

So... No black folk in Albion... Again... ?

And here was me looking forward to some more derivative, low budget games of chance. Oh wait....

  • TonyCocaCola #18 2 years ago

So does the villager just get assigned to your gamertag then gets downloaded when you play the game?
  • RexRunti #19 2 years ago

    @xavier_dragoon

Wasn't that wizard bloke black? It's a bit like complaining about the lack of ethnic minorities in Knights of the Round Table stories, the locations during the periods the stories are based on basically didn't have any ethnic minorities unless you count celts and faeries.
  • darleysam #20 2 years ago

But then.. there were black characters in Fable II. Some of the farmers/villagers, as well as Garth (mentioned above) voiced by the awesome Ron Glass.

Graphics / gameplay don't look much improved (from II) based on the videos I've seen. A few innovations look alright; I'll probably pick it up, at least they're constantly trying new things even if sometimes they're arse.
  • immateriaux #23 2 years ago

Yes, best to try out new things on paying customers rather than focus groups and beta testers
  • xavier_dragoon #24 2 years ago

    @ RexRunti

Garth from F2, the brother and sister from F1 and... that's about it...

I'm not asking for little Africa or anything but its a fictional world, full of wizards, traders, sea farers etc... a little ethnic diversity (probably varying depending on geographical location though out the game world) wouldn't be that far fetched surely?

As well as Shepard Book doing the voice of Garth, Rory Breaker from 'Lock, Stock...' voices a few villagers here and there so I'm sure LionHead's racism doesn't discriminate...

...Although Black and White was a bit sus sounding when you think about... I wonder what they meant by that?
