Sierra has announced a new instalment in the Crash Bandicoot series is on the way to Wii, Xbox 360, PS2, DS and PSP.

According to the press release Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant sees our hero returning with "new abilities and his signature bandicoot hilarity", thankfully.

This time Neo Cortex and N. Brio have devised "a text-messaging, do-anything device" which controls both mutant and bandicoot minds. Ah, Gizmondo. The game takes place on Wumpa Island, in what's described as "free-romping" environment. It's got an ice level.

Crash can now control enemies when he jacks them, upgrade them and make use of their powers at appropriate moments. You can also play as Coco for the first time in co-op mode, which apparently should "make the game that much more inviting for girls to pick up and play".

Crash now has dodge and counter moves, and can dig underground to find bonuses. Plus he can climb vertical surfaces and jump from side-to-side to reach new places.

Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant is out this autumn.

if Sierra make the Crash Bandicoot series any worse im gonna go round there and kill em!!! it used to be so good when i was a kid but now with the added "Jackin' Up" or what ever its called its just shit......and now they have added a Pokemon esque feature to the game which will make it worse than ever!!

I remember when Crash Bandicoot only featured Crash Bandicoot as a playable character....now its turned into Crash Bandicoot and his Thousands of Friends....abit like Sonic

Sony will do the right thing and launch Crash 2 & 3 on PSN so I can live in blissful ignorance at what Crash has become today.

Crash 1,2 and CTR are already on the UK PSN. I'm waiting for number 3 to hit the Euro PSN, it's already out on the US store.

I bought Crash 1 on the PSN last friday, never played it before (so no nostalgia in effect)

its pretty awesome, if a bit hard, a game where you have to worry about LIVES, and you have to EARN game saves

Crash 2 was on the Euro PSN for a while before they removed it during the Spyro/Medievil scandal as a precautionary measure. Was unfounded as far as I can tell, I played it from beginning to end without issue.

Maybe if you add up the last five year's worth of Crash Bandicoot games, and then add the recent Sonic ones on top, maybe, just maybe... you'd have one passable game.

Probably about a 5/10.

Do these people from Sierra actually believe the rubbish they spout? Crash's last outing removed almost everything Crash was about, platforming, collecting, TNT and Nitro boxes, there's not much left of Naughty Dog's original platformers which still stand the test of time today. Jacking up indeed.
Be ashamed Sierra....diminishing returns will get ya very soon.
