THQ has announced that the Connecticut Superior Court has dismissed most of World Wrestling Entertainment's claims against it and Jakks Pacific.
THQ and Jakks' joint venture gives the videogame publisher the rights to make games based on WWE, but the wrestling company had claimed the agreement was void or could be voided based on alleged bribery of a licensing agent.
Poppycock, said the court, although some claims relating to agreement with Japanese developer Yuke's remain to be considered.
"The Connecticut Superior Court's decision marks a significant milestone in resolving the WWE litigation," said James M Kennedy, executive vice president of business and legal affairs, THQ. "We believe the remaining claims are without merit and we intend to defend ourselves vigorously."
"Drinks are on me," he added. He didn't.
THQ's next big wrestling game is WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, which is due out for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP and DS on 7th November.
