Coronation Street game coming to DS
It'll be out in time for Christmas.
A new game based on Coronation Street is in development for the Nintendo DS.
It's being published by Mindscape, previously responsible for titles such as Noddy and the Magic Clock, Omar Sharif 3D Bridge and Kookabonga Crazy Monkey Party. Not to mention Wild Horses - The Quest for the Golden Horse and Egypt 3.
The new game is said to feature "an adventure and task-based concept set within the theme of the famous fictional street", excitingly. A board game is also planned, titled Destination: Coronation Street.
Our foreign readers might like to know that Coronation Street is an inexplicably popular soap opera set in the north of England. According to ITV 78 per cent of the UK's television audience watched it last year, though that figure probably includes people forced to watch the Christmas special by visiting elderly relatives.
"We receive thousands of fan letters enquiring about the series every month," said ITV exec Aysha Kidwai, who did not say what proportion of those were written in green crayon by people who think Ken Barlow is a real person.
"We're responding to this huge demand by developing a range of exciting and innovative family targeted products inspired by the show."
Coronation Street DS will be released just in time for Christmas, astonishingly.

I actually used to work on the official Coronation Street magazine, and I can tell you from first hand experience that the answer is "Most of them".

I actually feel physically ill at the prospect of this, it is just wrong, wrong wrong wrong. Actually i fell like gougin my eyes out and ramming sharp pencils in my ears at the thought that someone from my family will buy this and subject me to its horrors as if the TV show was bad enough.
A travesty of gaming justice me thinks

The naffest game release from a 'major' software house for two years. No-one should be allowed to push this onto the shelves.
Never mind that turd. "The Eagles Nest", reviewed on the same page, was awesome though. I had it on the C64, those screenshots are wrong though.

Too many sad people in this country who think the characters are real. Such low intelligence, and when the SUN newspaper had a front page spread to get one of the characters released from prison, it really showed how sad the intelligence of these idiots is.
When we see the Americans set up an awards ceremony and all the stars gather, it looks impressive. When the British do it and we gather our 'so called' stars together, we see a load of talentless soap actors/actresses and it looks embarrassing. Why are they regarded as the best we have. Our TV is just so sad.
So now its going to be a game, wonder if they will hire some REAL actors to do the voices?
I hope the developers get locked up, surely this can only be interpreted as someone who has become insane and needs locking away for the publics safety.

Can you go on a rampage with David? Hang on... second player could be Becky. Both armed with drainpipes. Like a less cool version of Axel and Blaze... Last boss would be that ginger twat that broke his face... the only problem is that if you cause any damage the Police come and arrest you. They won't believe you whatever you say, even when it's glaringly obvious they should let you continue - they insist on stretching their dilly-dallying for at least three weeks while you watch a sub-plot about Norris' new meth lab venture with Blanche.
It'll probably be shite.

Seriously.
There's no way I can't NOT buy this! I just hope some more top Brit shows follow suit. I'd actually WANT to play a Call of Duty game if it had a Dad's Army license! Fuck heatshots, bathtub tanks are where the REAL fun is!

Canadians get their dose of Corrie 5 times a week. On Sunday after my trip to the Methadone clinic, I'd spend the next 2 1/2 glued to the telly. But we're quite behind- David has just started to serve his 4 months at a juvvie.
