Stunning, but I doubt these are In-Game...
  • Tiger_Walts #3 6 years ago

The dust does look like it's been 'chopped in.
  • yagisencho #4 6 years ago

Holy ****. If these ARE in-game shots, then I guess my next-gen console embargo is nearing an end.
  • Skooch #5 6 years ago

Exciting, looks great, but have learnt my lesson with next-gen which is to wait until it is in front me before passing judgement. Looks a little MotorStorm-esque....

If it doesnt look like screenshots, at least it will look slose to those pictures

    Motorstorm 360 !!!

    ;)
  • JediMasterMalik #9 6 years ago

    Nothing like Motorstorm!
  • UncleLou #10 6 years ago

    Looking absolutely terrific, if real.
  • UncleLou #11 6 years ago

Btw., didn't someone mention the other day that a few people who did Rallisport Challenge are working on this? If that's the case, I don't have many doubts that it'll look like this.

Can't wait for WRC from Evolution Studios (Motorstorm), now that WILL be breath-taking! :)

Am I missing something? That looks at bit rubbish to me, the car model isn't great, the dust is poor and the floor textures are cringeworthy. If this is rendered then they really need to find someone who can do CGI properly. Colour me unimpressed.
  • UncleLou #17 6 years ago

You must be looking at a different set of screenshots than me.
  • pjmaybe #18 6 years ago

This is what the 360 needs, a decent dirt racer...!

Some of those shots are photo-real.

I won't believe it till I see it. In motion.
  • JediMasterMalik #20 6 years ago

Looking at the full size photos, there is some definite aliasing.
  • wattoo #21 6 years ago

Are these the same shots there was some hoohar about when some Codies guy said they'd been 'shopped and was promptly sacked?

    Or are they different ones?
  • DrDamn #22 6 years ago

Some of those look superb. I think shots 2, 3 and 4 were the target renders from ages ago (filenames CMRDIRT* rather than cmrDIRT). The new batch look realistic in possible realtime terms and all other terms too. The lighting in particular looks very realistic. Colour me impressed and someone fetch Zomoniac some new specs ;-)

richard burns rally is far better than colin mcrae. pity no one bought it (except me of course)
  • Talha #24 6 years ago

Amazing, amazing. Colin McRae was always a little bit behind in graphics. For me, RalliSport Challenge holds that crown, followed very closely by WRC. These were so good looking, they outdid anything even on a PC. Up close, while WRC might look grainy and pixellated on PS2, you can't tell it apart from rally footage when seen from 10 feet.

But this is really the next level. I think the best way to ensure these graphics is to buy an NVidia 8800 GTS (Not GTX). And of course, another 2 GB of RAM. And of coruse, Windows Vista. Because somehow I doubt they will look or drive the same on 360 or the PS3. Plus Codemasters are not Polyphony. ;-)

Der LORD. Who gives a shit about GROUND TEXTURES?

Jezzus, just go and play some fucking games and enjoy 'em.
  • DrDamn #26 6 years ago

Apparently these are PS3 shots as it is the reference platform for the engine. How well the 360 version stacks up againsts it will be of interest as so far engines intially developed for the 360 have not ported well the the PS3. Could just be relative age of development tools on the PS3 of course.
  • bunnymc #27 6 years ago

Looks like stages will be short again ( see the screen shot, says best time around 4 min.). Stages shouldn't be under 10 minutes with perfect driving
  • Talha #28 6 years ago

I have been pining for it for ages - longer stages. This is what the next gen of rally games should be about - something approaching REAL rally times.
  • Calgon #29 6 years ago

DrDamn source for the lead platform?(could well be true Ive just not read that anywhere yet) Even if true its well known that 360s Dev tools are MS's best yet(thats coming from some PC dev houses too)... Sony on the other hand... well they arent known for excelling in this area, add to that yet again the hardware itself(missing 360s branch prediction, dot product ect) will take longer and cost more to acheive the same results that the 360 gets.

The lead platform will have the best chance of having better visuals, we are seeing this already in 360s favour(some of this is down to the simple fact that there are many things that 360 can do better), not so many in the PS3s favour but its early days for that platform, despite how long devs have had PS3 dev kits in their hands to work on these games(much longer than 360 at the time of launch thats for sure).

It looks nice but its not unbeleivable, theres every reason to beleive these are ingame shots, I'm hoping theres a RSC3 on the cards for 360 personally(how can they not? its the best :) does MS own the IP or was that Dice's all along? ).

    Motorstorm looks much better ;)

Not in my opinion. These shots actually come close to the Motorstorm CGI trailer, something Motorstorm itself never quite managed, as good as it looks.

Can't wait to see it in motion. Like I said months ago above, with the RSC team onboard, I don't really doubt it will look just like in the screenshots.
  • UncleLou #31 5 years ago

Not sure what you mean by that - the screenshots here look better to me, that includes the tracks, or what we see of them. Not to forget that it also looks more varied.

Not denying that Motorstorm looks great, but this is a step up.
  • richardiox #32 5 years ago

These latest screenies look better than if not certainly equal to the graphics in Motorstorm. Don't worry Yellowtruck, you dont need to be defensive as DIRT is coming to PS3 anyway.
  • stoopidgreg #33 5 years ago

i'm going to start a petition to get richard burns 2 made. who's with me? :D
  • UncleLou #34 5 years ago

    Oh, trucks.

Looking great, really, though there's a tad too much bloom in some shots.
  • Grom #35 5 years ago

I miss my GT Four :(
  • texx #36 5 years ago

@yellowtruck, motorstorm is fun and looks good but all you do is boost and accelerate, you never have to use the brake, gets boring after a while. This looks good and has tons of variety and the handling will be spot on,so it will have loads of life in it
  • JediMasterMalik #37 5 years ago

You do have to brake actually. Not that not having to brake makes it a bad game, it's not meant to have a realistic driving model, that would be DIRT.
  • SeesThroughAll #38 5 years ago

It looks like Colin McRae wants to be MotosStorm. The graphics certainly are on par, and in some cases better (more variety in the tracks). When does it hit the PS3 again?

looks good but all you do is boost and accelerate, you never have to use the brake, gets boring after a while.

Not sure how is it you manage to make full laps never hitting the brake in any track except Rock Hopper, but otherwise you have to brake.

You're gonna havea bloody long wait seeing as they don't have the WRC licendce anymore. That's why they made Motorstorm.
