Colin McRae: DiRT 2 for DS detailed
Track editor, single-card MP, more.
Codemasters has unveiled the DS version of Colin McRae: DiRT 2, which is due out alongside the other versions on 11th September.
Developed by Firebrand, the team responsible for Race Driver: Create and Race, it's a fully 3D racer with the same globe-trotting, discipline-hopping agenda as the rest of the DiRT 2 multiformat family.
That means you'll get to stick with your preferred car across a range of event types in the world tour mode, and that available cars include things like the Nissan 350Z, Hummer H3 and Kincaid Ford F150 in addition to more traditional rally fare like the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and Mitsubishi Evo.
There will be circuit-based and point-to-point races in there, obviously, and thanks to the DS sub-series' lineage there's a track editor too, which now allows for openworld point-to-point races. Tracks can be stored and shared via Wi-Fi.
Speaking of which, the game supports four-player races over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in five-event championships, while single-card multiplayer support is also included for up to four people using three event challenges.
And if none of that should appeal, there are separate arcade races to go through and a challenge mode with 20 events that reward you for jumps, slides and high speeds.
