Codemasters dates Damnation
Steampunk western coming next month.
Codemasters has announced that it will release Blue Omega's steampunk action game Damnation for PC, 360 and PS3 on 22nd May.
Damnation pictures an alternate USA ruled by an evil corporation after a 20-year civil war ended in stalemate: all canyons, cowboy hats, dusters and steam-powered motorbikes.
It's a third-person shooter with platforming elements in which you'll traverse huge stages vertically as well as horizontally, drive bikes along walls and sling guns Western-style. Gears of War meets Prince of Persia is the soundbite summary.
Damnation was originally due for release late last year but was delayed, in part to steer clear of big releases like those two.
Plenty more information and our hands on impressions are available at the Damnation gamepage.

The new release date is right on top of Bionic Commando - I know that's nowhere near as scary as the deluge of high profile titles we had at the end of 2008, but assuming the game was ready to go earlier surely they should have tried to release in April, about a month after Resi 5?
Still, if they used the time to polish the game and fix what would have been launch glitches, you won't hear me complaining.

+1
Releasing the game the same day as Bionic Commando is not a good idea. April would have been better for sure.
