COD4 PS3 maps coming on May Day

Double XP bank holiday weekend.

Infinity Ward has said the Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4 on PS3 will be released on 1st May.

Europeans will be given a double experience weekend immediately after launch, from Friday 2nd May to Sunday 4th May. You will also have a chance to shoot the developers in games on that Friday night, from 7pm to 10pm GMT.

Meanwhile, those of you in the US will be playing the maps a little earlier on 24th April, with your double experience weekend to follow immediately after from 25th to 27th April.

Infinity Ward also hopes to have its PC Community Map Contest open and receiving submissions by the end of the week.

We had a look at the Variety Map Pack when it was released for Xbox 360 earlier this month. We liked Creek and Chinatown more than Killhouse and Broadcast.

The Variety Map Pack cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) on Xbox 360. There is currently no word on a PS3 price.

    I don't give a damn IW, I won't pay your *** pack.

You spent 4 month to release a crappy patch, and now you wanna charge 10€ for four map, half of'em being part of the solo campain?

    Without me.

O and BTW, that free map, included in a 10 bucks map pack, that's funny =)

COD4 seems boring and generic to me and never understood the attraction ... well :)

    Excellent news. Can't wait.

I'd guess at the Map Pack costing £6.99 in the UK or $9.99 in the US... as that's what the Xbox 360 one cost.

Yeah, I think the game desperately needs these new maps, somehow the built in ones get dry fast despite the mostly flawless design.

But being on the PS3 side we pay the price, not to play online so much as the epic wait for content.

I could of bought it on 360, but despite these moments I can't say I regret the choice.

For Christ's sake just bring out the PC maps. And they better be free!
  • Gurrah #7 4 years ago

What Eraysor said! Seriously, the maps seem to be finished why is the PC release taking so long?! I hate that whole multi-platform-business - someone always has to wait and settle with mediocre quality.

Seriously, 2 days after GTA IV.
    Talking about bad timing.

I love COD4 as much as the next guy, and I'm no blind fanboy to GTA and I know it will won't be perfect.
But still... 2 days after GTA IV!?

Agreed - I have really been looking forward to these maps but I'll be playing GTA4 and so won't need them. Perhaps they'll notice the crap sales and be a bit quicker with PS3 add-ons next time.

Very disappointing non-support for the pc version to date, although we really could do without the 4 player designed for split-screen maps

I'm trying to figure out when consoles started being preferred to PC for FPSs...
  • rhinoxious #12 4 years ago

The instant they started selling more copies of console shooters than PC shooters.

I'm away at the Man Utd vs. West Ham game that weekend.

Funny thing is, after getting this map pack for the 360, I've been appreciating the original maps all over again. It just makes everything feel much fresher. The map pack maps are also of a very high standard, each one being very fun to play, my favorite being Chinatown probably, as a fan of the original CoD's, it's great to be back in Carentan ;)

Still no reason to show total neglect for the one's who actually bought the PC version, which in CoD4s case are still a LOT of people.
