COD4 map pack problems fixed
PS3 now main focus, then PC.
Infinity Ward has said there should be no more problems downloading the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack from Xbox Live.
If you did get an "Invalid Code" error then re-downloading the file should sort everything out, insisted developer voice Robert Bowling on his blog.
He also sought to reassure PS3 owners that getting their Variety bundle ready is now top priority at Infinity Ward. There should be an announcement about it next week.
"Luckily though it's getting to that time for the PS3 to be the focus for a while with the launch of the Game of the Year Edition on PS3, the Variety Map Pack hitting PSN, and setting up some launch weekend events for you guys when the maps hit," wrote Bowling.
Meanwhile, the Community Mapping Contest for PC has come to an end and Bowling hopes to be able to tell you how you can get your hands on them soon. The Variety Map Pack looks likely to turn up as well.
"In addition to [the community maps], details are being finalised as to getting the map pack to the PC users as well," added Bowling. "I can't speak specifics just yet as everything is being cemented now, but it sounds like good news."
Look out for our thoughts on the Variety Map Pack soon.

I had a few problems with Live on Friday night which I put down to the new COD4 content. Not used my Xbox online all weekend though so not sure if it is sorted yet.

First, you are an ass-monkey.
Secondly, what happened to me on Friday night (PST) was that I couldn't buy the the damn map pack because of (I assume) really high loads at the marketplace. I didn't have any problems PLAYING anything online, and Saturday morning I was able to buy the map pack first thing and played all weekend...
I have to say, there was a lot of work put into the maps (even if they are partially taken from the single-player game). That being said, I hope they change the main menu system to either integrate the new maps in all the game-play modes, or offer more, specific game types. I.e. I have to play through a bunch of Domination games to get to one Headquarters game due to them being into one team-based lump.
In any case, well worth the 800 points...
edit: playing in all caps...

Matchmaking...seems CoD4 has the ability to match you with unsuitable hosts (in terms of ping) on a regular basis.
Matchmaking...since the 'patch' its virtually impossible to get into a lobby of game that hasnt already started, and I'm put into games that are most likely already close to being decided. To avoid this I have to put up with a crappy host that it has matchmaked me with (see first point), by remaining in the lobby afterwards.
Hit detection...any game that uses a (non-dedicated) server/client model and server-side hit detection is inherently flawed....period.
Host migration...do me a favour...its 'game migration'. You still get punished for a host leaving, if his team was winning. You still lose all your match bonus points if the host pulls the plug, instead of just quitting. And quitting hosts happens on a regular basis.
Lack of CTF, lack of 'player/non ranked' public matches, lack of online splitscreen.
I also have my own personal reason for not investing further. The fact that the game refuses to allow me to host, even though I have a 20Mbps/2Mbps connection. I can be assigned host, but the game is immediately ended as people join. Its not my connection as I've had that checked by a friend who works at the 2nd level help desk (the techs) of my ISP, and I know for a fact other people have this problem, after experiencing it from as a joining player. This was also not the case before the Xmas holidays when I was praised for my connection, and I'm also able to host on other games. I've contacted 402 at all known points of contact and have been ignored...too busy pimping the DLC, no doubt.
