CoD3 free bonus map News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

11 January, 2007

Despite sounding like a dog biscuit, "Champs" is actually a free new map for Call of Duty 3.

Available now for gold members to download from Xbox Live, the compact map delivers some spiffing war opportunities for small and medium-sized battles via online, split-screen, or system link play. If you're not content with that, then up the player limit to 24 and go absolutely bananas.

The action takes place in the war-torn French farm town of Port Royal des Champs. Blown-out buildings such as a battered cathedral and a private chateau provide cover, with sprawling wheat fields and hidden ravines adding tactical flanking possibilities.

As previously announced, "Champs" is the first of two downloadable add-ons for Call of Duty 3. However, you'll have to pay 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 10.30) for the upcoming Valor Map pack, which is expected to feature five locations "primed for intense close-quarters action".

Over.

800 points isn't too bad, considering it's 5 maps.

What's with the "close quarters" stuff? How about some larger maps... that would be nice, too!!

alpha-One -

There's this concept called "waiting". You need to be willing to have patients. Waiting is what separates the men from the boys, the true PS3 fans from the Xbots and Wiitards. If you can't wait, you might as well retire from "true gaming", i.e., the Holy Grail of gaming that is the PS3. Buy a 360 where you won't have to wait for last gen games and call it a day.

Do you really wanna know why the PS3 doesn't seem to be selling fast in America? Any moron can purchase a 360 or Wii, but only a select few are worthy enough to own a true Next Gen console. We are the privileged few. We were chosen, by some higher power perhaps, to cultivate a world where the only answer is Sony, the only truth is Sony, and the only option is Sony. The tyranny of Microsoft and Nintendo will have to be abolished, and we are the ones to do it.

It's only a short matter of time now alpha-One. Just hold on a bit longer :)

Champs is excellent...whoever said it is small is mad. Lots of cover, ambush points etc. High sniping positions are very exposed. Great addition to a great game...and its free.

its a shame that the matchmaking is a pain but the player matches are excellent....better than GoW, so sick of that now. R6:V is the daddy of the new crop.
