COD: Classic added to PS3 Store

Cupboards restocked for another week.

Three new PSP Minis and a host of PS3 game content are what's on offer on the PlayStation Store today.

Two of the Minis, Circles Circles Circles and D-Cube Planet, cost three quid. The third, Bubble Trubble costs a pound more, which must be why there's a whole post about the game on the European PlayStation blog.

There's also an unrelated free Comet Crash update that's gone live this week. This offers new levels, new maps, new Battle settings and a new difficulty mode. There's a post about this too.

Oh, and Call of Duty: Classic, which went live alongside the launch of Modern Warfare 2, on Tuesday.

Our picks on the rest of the PlayStation Store today are a Buzz! Euro Sports Quiz, SpongeBob SquarePants songs for Rock Band, and a Jak and Daxter demo for PSP.

Just so you know, the downloadable version of Mana Khemia has solved pretty much every loading issues that plagued the UMD version. Framerate is still a bit crap, but at least now it's playable without dying of old age.

    "Circles Circles Circles"

Ok so I don't know what the game is about but before I find out - this better not be £3 game where I'm just using only one button...
  • myiagros #8 2 years ago

Shame there is no braid this week, i guess i'll have to pick it up from the US store instead, later tonight.

Does the PS Store that I access on the *PS3* actually have any worthwhile content for the PS3, you know, as opposed to all this stuff we see week in, week out for Rock Band and for the PSP which ends up filling the store every week?

I wish I could filter them out as I've got no interest in either (I don't own, nor do I have any wish to own, a PSP or Rock Band) and it is confusingly mixed in with the PS3 stuff in the new releases section. I've seen a demo that I thought was for the PS3 only to discover that it was actually for the PSP. Annoying. The store really could do with another revamp to clearly separate the PSP and PS3 content in the new releases and allow people to actually filter out stuff they have no interest in.

Erm... so Call of Duty: Classic has been released for the PS3 but it's not fit to be included in the Store contents list for this week then? ;)
  • Beige_Alert #11 2 years ago

What does COD: classic cost? And is it any good?
  • jeebthegreat #12 2 years ago

COD: Classic is really good, but don't go expecting anything new, it's the same game from 5 or so years ago back on PC. Bloody good fun though :)
  • FooAtari #13 2 years ago

    CoD is 11.99 I think.

4.99 on PC for the Deluxe edition which includes the expansion...
  • Toothball #14 2 years ago

They PSN blog post about this seemed to indicate that next week would be the end of a "lull" in content, especially for PSP owners. I do hope they're not exaggerating.
  • Tetsuo_Shima #15 2 years ago

CoD 1 is outstanding, back from the days when recoil actually meant recoil and you didn't need no fancy hit indicators, airstrikes or cover-health systems! I almost wept with joy when I saw the CoD1 map Brecourt reincarnated in MW2, CoD1 had some of the finest multiplayer maps ever created. Carentan. Dawnville. The mighty Pavlov. Depot. Harbor ...

I still have COD on for the PC and the expansion pack. No PC to play them on mind.
  • Kosumo #17 2 years ago

@Tetsuo_shima yes I near jumped out of my seat when I realised it was Brecourt such as MW1's map pack Chinatown was a CoD1 map reincarnated. Then I sucked and sucked and blamed it on the 360 controller and wished I was back playing CoD1 online on the PC.

    @Darren

Seperating PSP and PS3 content, and having a proper game demos section are both great ideas.

Not sure about filtering content per user though. It shouldn't be neccesary to hide anything, so long as you can get to what you DO want easily.

Though the more I think on it... a "don't show me any content related to this game" option could be handy, so long as it was clear to users what was going on (the last thing you want is a player hiding content and not realising - could be risky).
  • el_pollo_diablo #19 2 years ago

I never got to play the first Call of Duty game so am pathetically excited by this. Even more so than my copy of COD4MW2 that's somewhere in the post.
  • Monkey_Puncher #20 2 years ago

11.99 for Call of Duty classic? Ouch! :(

I was hoping it'd be 800 ms points at most, I guess not.
  • KayJay #21 2 years ago

BTW. COD Classic has trophies. A Platinum one too.
  • PeacockDreams #22 2 years ago

Nice to see PAIN still giving away free content after all this time, its a great little game especially if you have children, it keeps them occupied for 10 minute blasts, however the trophies on it are next to impossible, i still havent got one
  • Lethal_Doze #23 2 years ago

    When are we getting MGS??????????????????????
  • Wildsleven #24 2 years ago

me sad panda :( can't Sony Europe do better than this!
  • superjag86 #25 2 years ago

COD Classic seems to have been pulled from the store as of this morning, strange...
  • Zebula77 #26 2 years ago

Hmm, US Store definitely a lot better this week (again!). Before going to work I got myself Braid - which I already know is excellent - the demo for the Star Trek thingie, Fat Princess for PAIN and a bunch of vids. Nice.

Only thing I downloaded from the EU Store was a few vids. Meh.
  • Darren #27 2 years ago

Asking £12 for a six year old PC game is a bit off IMO. It shouldn't be more than £7 if you ask me, not that you were but you know what I mean!
  • Darren #28 2 years ago

@kangarootoo - Well the amount of PSP stuff annoys the hell out of me so I'd like to be able to filter all that out so the only stuff visible in the New Releases section are things I can actually use on my PS3. The PSP is not a PS3 therefore I don't see why its content is even mixed with PS3 stuff personally. It's not like you can run PSP games on the PS3 is it (which, at least, would justify it being in the PS3's store)?
