Chunky Orange Box PS3 patch released News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

20 March, 2008

EA has sneakily released a beefy patch to address problems with The Orange Box on PS3.

The 1.10 update is 128 MB, and unhelpfully has no associated documentation to outline the changes.

Early reports suggest friends not appearing on lists and certain accounts not connecting to the EA servers should no longer be a problem.

Orange Box PS3 owners have publicly complained for a while over the framerate and connection issues as well as slow loading times.

Valve does not develop PS3 versions of its games internally but outsources them to a third-party. It has said this is the model it will follow for the foreseeable future.

Can you tell us what else the patch has addressed, Eurogamer reader? You can have an Easter egg as a reward.

even 50% bigger still wouldn't be big enough for me ;-)

Has the TF2 framerate improved at all? Sometimes it's like wading through treacle.

Alyz would have to be very dirty for me to fancy her. Only once did I look at her arse wiggling and thought - yeah I would.

How about when the update is up then put up a news article saying the update is out, Eurogamer?

Hopefully it brings the ability to make private rooms in TF2, so we can finally start doing clanwars.
If not, then it's Vegas 2 from now on (or at least until COD4 brings new maps)

Just fired it up, and there was no notification to start an update.
When, exactly, is it released, EG?

Forget all that. Does it fix the framerate and loading issues with the HL games? It's for those reason I didn't pick up the pack for PS3.

IF this improves the framerate (which isn't THAT bad IMHO) then this will be the best news ever - simply because I love HL2 so much.

There is two parts in Episode one that slowed down. Who ever didn't buy this game because "it had slowdown issues" were absolute fools. And the update still isn't out Eurogamer. Yous have to stop covering news and rumors for other continents.

Don't think many people did that. They just bought PC/360 version instead.

Still no sign of the patch.
And when I go into TF2, it keeps me on the "Connecting to EA Nation...." box for ages, and when I quit the game, it crashes, and restarts my PS3.
Not good EA. Not good at all.

But why does the PS3 color look faded and the texture less sharp on PS3 of HL?...Also more expensive ?

Patch applied and tested, loading times appear to be no different, the framerate still stutters in busy areas and after quicksaving. So don't be too worried that you don't have the update.

I've still got my GOTY PC edition, so I'll stick to that I guess!
Besides, the best part for me (Day Of Defeat:Source) isn't available on any console, so that trumps all.
Oh and little delights like Goldeneye:Source too.
