Chocobo's Dungeon dated for October
Wii-exclusive RPG from Square Enix.
Square Enix plans to release Wii role-playing adventure Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon across Europe on 31st October.
Here we have Chocobos, the bird creatures from the Final Fantasy universe, dressing up in wizard and knight outfits and collecting the lost memories of a town from various dungeons.
The result was a Metacritic average of 77 per cent from summer US reviews. Conclusions pointed to rather old-fashioned design based around challenge rather than plot, although the childish presentation was lauded for the usual Square Enix polish.
Head over to our Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon gamepage for all the screenshots and videos so far, and look forward to our review closer to release.

Seems to be getting decent reviews.

*generic flaming in defence of Wii insinuating that the original poster is a Xbox/PS3 fanboy, doesn't care about gameplay is only interested in games because they're in hi-def, only plays grey and brown FPSes, is childish and knows nothing about games *

so whats this Rogue-a-like genre that was mentioned? random maps? or just being a bit rough and tough?
game looks fun even though i was never a big fan of chocobos. as long as there are moogles and mogs i wont mind though.

Dungeon crawler with a large degree of randomness (randomicity?) concerning item placement/level generation etc, stat-heavy turn-based gameplay and combat.

But it's scaled back for this one. Unlike Shiren where you lose everything when you die, level's, equipment etc, in Chocobo's Dungeon, you keep your levels and any equipment you actually have equipped.
