CCP hints at EVE FPS

Footage shown at Fanfest.

EVE Online developer CCP has hinted that an FPS based on the EVE universe is in development.

Footage was shown of a Halo-like shooter on a daylit, Earth-like planet surface. The architecture and gun designs were clearly redolent of the space MMO's art style.

There was also a third-person view of a land vehicle driving across the surface.

Earlier in the presentation on the future of EVE, CCP bosses Hilmar Petursson and Nathan Richardsson had mentioned that CCP has a "game console strategy", and a slide mentioning PS3 and 360 was shown.

It seems likely that the FPS is envisaged as a game console project. Petursson mentioned that the developer has "some other tricks up our sleeve" besides EVE Online and the other MMO it is known to be developing, World of Darkness.

However, Petursson was keen to point out that the developer's resources are very much focused on EVE Online's next expansion at the moment - so don't expect the FPS any time soon.

If they can marry the fps and the mmo into one game I'll fit myself with a glucose drip and a colostomy bag and never move again.

Just don't get the drips the wrong way around..

Jesus christ, would you ever shut up about fecking eve-online.

I know it's the fanfest, but even outside you have the worst non-news stories about it.

"Eve onlines technology gets a bit better" "Eve online graphical upgrades 40% complete" "Eve online to one day have walking in stations" "Eve online to have player run bars"

Have one post, with all the info. For fucks sake >.

    @ave:

What a pointless comment. Whether you're visiting this site via RSS or just plain old typing the address in, its hard to miss the word "EVE" in the title of this story, and therefore ignore it if you don't want to hear about it. Never mind going to the lengths of opening it up and commenting on it!

How is it pointless? They're padding out site content by making each tidbit a seperate news item.

Look at what RPS did, they just did an eve-online megapost. It was far superior.

"Look at what RPS did, they just did an eve-online megapost. It was far superior."

    And your point is? .-)

You know, the main idea of those multiple titles is that you will get the overall info in it and then you can read the one you care about (for example I've read only this one concerning the EVE). I don't care about its expansion or whatever, but FPS sounded interesting.

Short story - every news site nowadays usually works this way => cry moar.

Ave, congratulations, you have been replied twice in the comment section of a popular website.
Now shut up and let the rest of the people enjoy all the CCP news via eurogamer.

My point is quite simple and I've already made it > Whether you're using front page or RSS, littering it with seperate items that could be put in the same article is superior for me as a reader. Far superior.

Bidermaier, your comment must be the most useless I've read in a long time. Should I congratulate you on that?

    Im with you, dude.
Its just that EG found out that clicks = money. More and shorter stories = more clicks!

I think the all time low is when they made a interview about wow, which was already on the site, into 7 news articles. Pathetic.

Guys at CCP. Pleeeease stop that FPS, and let all your guys work on your upcoming World of Darkness MMORPG! Pleeeease!
It should be the first really great MMORPG out there. (And the first I'm actually playing more than 5 hours)

Wow, has the comments section really come to this?

Ave and Krelle, just chill out. Why should it even bother you?
